Default xp7a or 12a

I am building my first BL bird and I can't find a good answer on this. It seems that most people use the XP7A ESC. I am thinking of getting the XP12A to future proof myself. My first motor will be a c05m. Is there any reason why I should not get the 12A?

The xp-7a will run just about everything. Only motors you might *need* a 12A esc (and even that's debatable) are the HP08 and TA 915.

in the quick search I did I could only find the weight if the 12A on asteroid designs. the 7a weight was not listed. looking at the boards I only saw a few differences. the weight must be from that external capacitor unless the 12a is significantly larger. I have not seen then side by side.

Bunch of esc weights here

The XP-7A is about 1.40g board only if you strip the excess solder from the power in.
http://www.xqcontrol.com/en_Product2.asp

Xp7A 22x12x5 pcb so 264mm squared (I disregarded the thickness)

Xp12A 22x17x7 pcb so 374mm squared

So I'm guessing over 2g for board only stripped of excess solder. This also disregards the cap they now run on the 12A. Perhaps we can ditch that on a 1s setup??
