Default DX7s and RealFlight 7

Hello Helifreaks

I have the DX7s working with RealFlight 7.

I am wondering what beginner settings I should use curve, rate, and expo wise to learn to hover on the Align Trex 500 in the simulator.

Thanks

I would leave the transmitter settings alone and tune the heli in the simulator.

You will probably be happy with 60-70% DR and 15-30% expo. I would suggest learning on a flat pitch curve and flat throttle curve.

I would also suggest using a 700 size helicopter on the simulator. The are bigger (easier to see) and a little slower (easier to learn on).

When you first learn to hover, you are really learning how to use the 4 channels on your two sticks to coordinate the controls of the helicopter. Next you'll be teaching your brain to recognize the helicopter's orientation as it moves. Neither of these require the use of the helicopter you plan to learn to fly in real life.

I can fly complex 3D maneuvers, and I only own a 450, but I spend most of my simulator time on a 700.

Thank you. That helps a lot.

Thanks

Glad to hear.

I'd also carry over my advise to your real heli - fly with a flat throttle and pitch curve when you start. You will have predictable headspeed, stability in the wind, and you can use the soft start on your ESC to bring the motor up to speed predictably.

Recently posted a thread in the RF forum (Spektrum DX8 with RF Helicopters). It's for the DX8, but should work with the DX7. Explains how the RF interface works and how to program the TX to work with it.

2 options, Interlink emulation or full model control. Interlink emulation works on an Acro TX model. Full control requires RF model editing (but is much better).

Any issues, post back to this thread, or PM me.
