Default RX Confusion

I have a Trex 450 SA w/AR 7000 rx. A couple of days ago, I powered it up (motor disconnected) and bound my DX6i to it. Everything seemed to be operating, but not as much movement on cyclic as I was expecting. I had my radio set to ArchmageAU's "Ultra Beginner" settings. This morning, I checked again and everything worked the same. Powered off everything. Reset the radio to the "Beginner" settings (a bit less conservative). Powered back up and the rx was flashing not a steady light. Powered off, went through the bind procedure. Power on and the rx never gets a light (satellite receiver does). Go to bind procedure and the rx light does a rapid flash, but will not bind. What am I doing wrong?

Yes. I am using the bind plug. It seems to bind. Then when I shut everything down to remove the bind plug and power back up, only the sat rx light comes on.

If you power off rx but not tx, like in changing batts, you will get blink on rx but it is still good bind. If you power both off and repower you get solid light on rx.

Found it. Bad receiver. Replaced it with AR8000. Everything is back to normal (at least till I take it out and try to fly it!).
