Default Hitec H4 DC/DC Four-Port Multi-Charger Damage

Hi guys,
I used many of charger. finally ı stop on the hitec link below.

http://hitecrcd.com/products/charger...harger/product

It is support 18v maximum. Last week I connectted it to Hyperion's power sup. by mistake. It is 24v. So the hitec damaged. I open the charger and followed the voltage. And find the problem. H1117-3,3 is burned. İt feeds the board with 3.3v and open the electronical key etc etc. İt support max 20v. I changed with the new one. The voltage feeding is turn on the normal and all things gets the voltage. But there is a terrible problem. The pic is not work. I can change but I can not programme it. İt is so bad that it is look like it must programme after soldering. So ı cant do anything.The bad side there is not a protective circuit. I told the office that ı bought the charger. They said we can not say anything. We did not see anything like this before. I know that the pic is burned but maybe it is not. it is in slepping Now I want to ask. Is there anyone can give me an idea. I bought it last July. Thank you, Have great day..

Hi,
I am very upset, this is important because, HİTEC is a good brand and I thing there must be something in it for Hold up, like this circumstances, isn't there any fuse or thermic fuse, if it's not, this is strange, freak. Always there are high currents and you can do something wrong. And I can't understant that, Which office said" they can't do anything" and why, if that, you said "office" or hobby shop? What ever, I think You must Contact ditectly with HİTEC and I think they can do something for you.

Over voltage is hard to protect against and is usually catastrophic for the charger. I don't know any hobby grade charger that has sufficient overvoltage protection. to take a hit like that.

A few brands will offer repairs directly from the factory or through there dealers. Others offer discounts on new products. Check with Hitec directly.

Hi, did you read the manual of hitec, there is some think like that;

Safety Functions
- Power Supply Reverse Polarity Protection
- Output Power Short Circuit Detection
- Power Supply Voltage too High or Low Detection

This means, there are something wrong with your HİTEC.

Detection is different than protection. Typically the charger will have maximum value at which damage occurs. The manufacture will rate the max voltage at some percentage below the damage level occurs. The overvoltage detection will be triggered when the voltage goes over the overvoltage threshold alert level. The alert may be set at precisely the rated max voltage, or slightly higher.

The alert can only do so much. If the input is well above the damage level, then damage will occur and the alert will not have time to be triggered.
