Default Servo's for 90 G4

Hey guys!

With the anticipation of Thunder Tiger re releasing the 90 G4 flybarless, I've been looking at possible equipment for it. This would be my first 90 size helicopter and was just curious as to what torque specs are good for a 90 nitro CCPM helicopter? I was looking at the BLS 255HVs for cyclic. I think they are around 170 oz at 7.4v. Would this be adequate for hard 3D flying? It looks like they are discontinued from tower hobbies so maybe the 272s would work good? Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi Justin, if you can get some 255s they will be all you need, but like you said they are discontinued, and replaced with a sbus version.

I'm using 255s on the Cyclic and 256 on the tail

It's a great machine, hope you enjoy it.

Default Servos

I also use Futaba BLS255HV and BLS256HV on my G4 and will be using the same for a new G4 build I just started. The 255's were a little hard to find this time, but I finally found some NIB. They are awesome servos. Really don't know how much better a servo can get in my opinion.

Thanks for the response! Yeah I have found some on ebay. It looks like the BLS272 is the replacement (or most similar). Do the 255s have metal gears? Servo database says plastic, I was just wondering. I'm leaning towards the 272s if I can't find any 255s when I build the G4 (whenever we hear something about the G4 Nitro FBL). Thanks again!

I am pretty sure that BLS272 and BLS255 share the same gear set and they are metal.

A firend on mine has 415 flights on the Futaba 451's, they are cost effective and dependable.

Good to hear man! I ended up getting the BLS 272s. Only cause I wanted to run a straight 2S lipo.

Those 272s will work great! I ran a similar rated servo for a while and loved it (Hitec 7940TH).

Currently I'm running the BLS157HVs on cyclic and BLS256HV on tail.
