Question Which ESC for SK540 in Protos 500 stretch

I am planning the electronics setup for my upcoming Protos 500 stretch build. I believe that I have settled on the SK540, which will be bound to my DX6i (DSMX) transmitter. Does anyone have a recommendation for an ESC to use with this setup. Planning on 6S batteries. I'm somewhat of a noob still, so I apologize if the battery is less of a concern here.
thanks

=] the hobbywing platinum pro series is value and performance bundled together, you don't need the HV version for 6S, if you want to run the SK gov use the hobbywing phase sensor also....

for ease of programming use the 2 in 1 prog box, cheap!

Thank you very much, I figured that the SK540 had most of the intelligence built in, so I did not want to spend the extra money for an ESC that had features the SK would cover. However, while I realize that no setup is perfect, I would like to ensure that the setup is as failsafe as possible. Shredding a playground full of children because the electronics blew out or went haywire, would really put a damper on the hobby for me, oh my..
Sorry, I know that was some bad imagery But you get what I am saying.
That damn HF injury thread has me paranoid now, lol.

When would I need to use the HV version, 8S?

I am sorry for being such a noob, however most of my experience has been with my 130x, which has everything integrated in a 3N1. I do understand electronics though, so you don't need to to dumb it down for me in that sense. I am just not sure with regards to the heli specific terminology.

My coworker and I fly at Carroll Community College where we work. For much of the year the ball fields are available. However, there is still an opportunity for problems with a road on one side and a large parking lot on the other. Here is a video shot from his Logo 800.

Is the phase sensor an output included on the linked pro series ESC or is it a separate device?

=] the sensor http://helidirect.com/rpm-sensor-p-26366.hdx may come with it depending on what HW include these days?

OK, I was having trouble finding this sold as a phase sensor. Now that I understand that this is referred to by vendors as a RPM sensor the other name makes complete sense, lol. I assume the device counts the motors phase shifts to determine its speed. I forgot that these are actually AC motors. Hall Effect could also be used for this as well I would think. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.
I have one last thing I was curious about. Is it really anymore reliable to use an external BEC. I would think the integrated BEC on a $100 ESC would be designed with components of similar quality to the main circuit. Thermal ratings ect... I would also think the internal BEC circuit could easily be designed independent of the ESC, so any failure of one would not affect the other.
Thanks in advance,

=] the LV series include a built in 4A bec, these are reliable units without a doubt! the HV series don't have a bec, for these I use a separate 2S pack.
