Default 14Ch 2.4GHz FASST Rx/TM-14 Tx Module>>IN STOCK

I was surfing Towers and found they show the 14Ch 2.4GHz FASST Rx/TM-14 Tx Module “IN STOCK”.
So there goes $400, + another rx, + another rx………..

Nice!! Now we just need them to go into stock down here as well!!

If someone get's one, please let me know if the 14channel receiver works with 2048 resolution, because the Robbe website says this about this receiver:

Quote:
Compact, lightweight 14-channel receiver whose small size makes it equally suitable for small models and large model aircraft.

A receiver for all applications.
Compatible with TM-8 und TM-14 2.4 GHz FASST RF modules.

Small 7-channel receiver weighing only around 9 g; equally suitable both for very small models - such as indoor or slow-fly models – and large model aircraft. A receiver for all applications.

Compatible with TM-7, TM-8 and TM-14 2.4 GHz FASST RF modules, and T6EXP and T7CP transmitters.
If it would only work with 2048 resolution, than it wouldn't be compatible with all the other modules and trannys now would it?

Cheers,

Richard

ps. we have to buy the module & receiver seperately so this is why I need to know this... I don't really need 14 channels on my T-rex 600

Ah, I see...

EDIT: I was just looking at the towerhobby website and found what I was looking for:

Quote:
Futaba advanced technology allows this receiver to be the first
2.4GHz receiver able to utilize all 14 channels. It retains
G3 2048 resolution and Futaba Real Time Response from the
72MHz version.
Cheers,

Richard

My CC card just got charged on the backorder so it looks like I made it in this shipment.
It will be next weekend for the flight tests if it arrives in 5-7 days.

From showing in limited stock to backorder status was less than 24 hours, fast sell out.
It would be interesting to know how many hit the streets on the first batch.

Let's wait and see how it goes.

I only placed my backorder on 12/22/07 so I got in pretty late in this. Mine shipped today.

Last thing I read (about the 14MZ) was if you have the upgrade from March of 2007 you did not need to upgrade your software to use the 2.4 Ghz modules.

You need a update for the 2.4 module to work.I got my module already but cannot find the update yet.I spoke to somebody at Futaba and they said it could be a week before the update is released.

I just posted the question on the Futaba Flyers Club forum in the 12Z General forum.
For those with access, here is the link....

http://www.14mz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2595#2595

For those without access, I'll post the question and when it gets answered I'll post the answer.

TM-14 module shipped ...... is it going to just work....

Or will I need a software upgrade?

I have the latest loaded in my 12z.... the one that adds the extra PPM channels. 2007-03-21-T12Z_update_1_1_0.zip

Is there a special update that allows the TM-14 2.4ghz module to work?

That's for the 12FG, not the 12Z. Very exciting that they're enabling the USB port though, and I hope that they do so for the 12Z/14MZ as well.

From RCU....

GENTLEMEN!! Please remember that this forum is NOT a Discussin Forum.

I locked this as there were numerous posts going back and forth on this topic. This is a Futaba Support forum, it is for questions for Bax and I to answer, please try to remember this.

As for your question.

There is software upgrades required of the 12FG, 12Z and 14MZ to be able to utilize the 2.4GHz modules...these will be posted BOTH on the Futaba Flyers Club website, and the Futaba 2.4GHz website.

Unfortunately, due to the Holidays, they are not on these sites. These will be posted on BOTH sites as quickly as possible after the holidays and everyone returns to work.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Sincerely,

Default That Stinks!

I have been a hardcore Futaba user since the early 90’s. When I was ask which radio should I use for my chopper? My answer without delay would be Futaba.
The other day a friend of mine ask this very question and I said JR 9303 2.4 Mhz. I have to admit this was a turning point in my life. He also asks if my $2200 14 MZ was on 2.4? NOPE, I replied! Now I am starting to think back on some other things that I have had to deal with over the past few years.
First of all it took me almost two years to get my membership to the infamous Futaba Flyers Club. This was after sending in 3 applications and numerous emails and never got a response from Hobby Services (that really pisses me off). I was only able to resolve this after contacting Bill Baxter and sending my application (# 4) via email.
Then there was the questionable noise rejection of the 5014 receivers. I never had a problem but a lot of others did. The fix was cut the antenna in half?? Why were they released this way?

Quote:
A quote from the Futaba web site.
Our hands-on experience with 2.4GHz technology stretches back 15 years, long before anyone considered its value in hobby applications. That's when engineers in Futaba's industrial R/C division – designers of radio-control tools for construction, civil engineering, and similar uses – began employing and perfecting their own 2.4GHz equipment. Those same engineers were brought in to share their knowledge as soon as we were comfortable that 2.4GHz technology had perfected for the unique demands of R/C hobby applications. No other radio manufacturer had such an instant supply of expertise.
My question is.. What’s taking so long to get this technology to the public??

I started to order the 2.4 MHz for my 14 MZ on the 27th when I found Towers had them in stock but decided to see how things played out first.

Glad I waited.
Now a lot of people have spent the $400 + overnight shipping in some cases to get an upgrade that was supposed to be released months ago, Futaba (Hobby Services) will release the software for the now worthless modules when they have time to post it on the web?????????
Futaba you are about to loose a long time customer and probably more at this rate.
This is very bad for your reputation and I am sure JR Radio thanks you!

Man, I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I sent my application 3 times already, even after E-mailing to Bill Baxter, and have not yet received any communication from them, I have owned this 14 MHz Radio since they came out with ( 3 years ) and I'm thinking to get rid off it and get a JR. They have not release a detailed manual as I was told when I registered my Radio when I bought it.

I don't call myself hardcore any radio. I started with Futaba. I didn't buy a 14Z because I thought over $2000 was twice my idea of a top of the line radio. So I splurged a little and got the 12Z.

It's been good to me, all my Futaba receivers, 149's, 319's, 146... all have been flawless. Futaba gyros, what can I say, never had a problem. Have/had 240, 401's 611's. Great performance and no problems.

Used to have a 9C. Nice radio, it was my first.

I did own a JR 10X for a short time. I never used it as I sold it as soon as I got it and kept the servos. That was an impressive radio to hold and play with though. I love the magnesium case. I wished Futaba did the same.

I have always had great service from Hobby Services. Heck I picked up a used GV1 for like $50. The display wasn't working when I first went to use it. I sent it in. They sent me a brand new one in the box with everything included.... no charge.

I got on FFC pretty easily. I think Bill Baxter has a hard time keeping up with everything. I think he needs more help.

When I got my TX I mailed in the registration card and within a few weeks I got my info. on getting into the FFC website. Unfortunately, there is little if any benefit to the FFC. The Futaba support folks are actually more active on RCU than they are on the FFC. The lack of an updated manual is disappointing (especially for such an expensive radio).

This is mainly due to the lack of accessibility to FFC. Why is the FFC so “exclusive”? What is the secret we are supposed to be keeping?
The problem is the people that should have access can’t get it so they have moved to an open forum.
