Default Can the 300X auto rotate?

+1

Common misconception of autorotation as just using remaining energy in the main rotor after motor shuts down. Real autorotation uses downward momentum of the heli to convert the energy in order to INCREASE headspeed to flare at the end. That means you'll never get enough speed from fast descend to INCREASE HS from 3ft high.

BTW, nice auto from OP. I'm not brave enough to try with such small momentum from the 300X.

I think that's what you are using, isn't it?

I wouldn't dare to do an auto, unless I can master in in my Phoenix Simulator.

Nice to watch those videos though! Good job!

I think the OWB for the 300x disconnects the main blade from the gear? Which in turn disconnects the tail. So even if the 300x where to free up the main blades you would have no control of the tail.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here as I haven't really looked into this because autoing a 300x would be almost useless. Even on the 130x people that say they can auto it, its kinda BS. It's more of a controlled crash.

no. with OWB, the tail hub can still spin (and thus the tail) with the main blades but the main gear does not spin

Great video of the 300 auto. I would like to be able to land in the same place, that consistently, while under power.
