Default Ms Composite night tail blades defective.

I orded some of the Ms Composite night tail blades from CommonSenseRc.

When they arrived the first set I opened up would not light with the supplied jumper.

I tried the other blade in the package and it also did not light either.

I found his very courious and checked the voltage with my meter and one blade had 0 volts and the other only registered .2.

I know that both blades being bad is a one in some great big number chance, but it did happen to me.

The other set of blades worked fine out of the bag.

Bruce at CommonSense talked with Ms Composite but didn't think they would warranty them at all. I am not sure he believes me, but I want others to be aware.

It's depressing as I have had good luck with the Ms Composite airplanes an have enjoyed them immensely. I have most of there foamys.

I have not dealt with CommonSenseRc much but they seem to ship ok and to be reliable.

Bruce is going to look into this some more but I don't have much hope for a successful resolution.

The MS tail blades have about the same failure rate as the Align blades.
There are a bunch of us here that have sets of very expensive MS day tail blades.
I also had no luck trying to get MS to warranty the blades.
I tried to repair my set of the MS tail blades by adding a tiny 20mAh liPo cell to the blade. It did not work well.

Well still no call back from Common Sense RC, so I'll call them, and have them ship my "Day" blades to me.

Looks like the last order for them from me.

I have a set of MS night tail blades that I bought a couple years ago and never took out of the bag until a few months ago. The just barely work. The battery voltage is low and charges only last a very short period, maybe long enough for a flight, I've never tried it.

I came across a hobby shop with several unsold sets of the same night tail blades that they had had for a very long time and they were pretty sure they were no good. I took them all home to test for them and over half of them (15 or 20 sets total, I can't remember the exact number) had either one bad blade or both blades were bad, meaning either no light at all from a full charge cycle or else just a few short seconds of light.

After my experience with my set and the store's sets it seems that age and just sitting on a shelf degrades the night tail blades significantly.

Thats crazy if they will not warranty the blades if they were bad when you got them.

Just if someone stumbles on this post. This is how I fixed mine: an external 50mah lipo on the outside.

When the night tail blades first came out, they were warrantying them like crazy. I think they decided that they could not stay in business sending out that many free blades. But since they are still the only night tailblades available, they are still in business. Before MS discovered green LEDs they had the best night blades on the market. Lithium is not a good chemistry for something that is used infrequently.

My buddy is a Century rep and he coincidentally asked me to try them out.

If it happens this weekend I'll let you know.

I just got a pair and they look verry nice. I have a few more things to finish my night rig but when I do I will let you know. I could come down and let you check them out in person at that time.

Flew the Century tail blades today. They are awesome! Super visible and the tail was locked in.

Seemed really well made and the battery is replaceable... Guess if I ended up buying them from the rep...

Recommended!
