1st setup help
This is my first actual FBL setup, I chose this because of the price and not needing to buy anything extra to program it with.
I could use some help with my first setup, I installed on my new Protos 500 with temporary Hitec 225BB on the cyclic with Spektrum A5040's on the way, Spektrum 5020G on the tail, MSH/YGE 60 esc, and a Spektrum Sat. I got everything moving in the right direction without binding but occasionally on the bench the servos will move slowly on their own unitil they hit the mechanical limits. Also I don't know if it is normal or not but when I move the cyclic stick, the servos move back to center very slowly, and as stated previously, sometimes they continue to move past center.

Hi, flybarless systems work by correcting any heli movement not initiated by stick movement on your transmitter. So when flying the system responds if your heli is blown about by trying to correct its position.
When your heli is on the bench and if you move it slightly left right or lean it in any direction by hand, the flybarless system tries to correct the movement as it has not seen any input on your transmitter. As it then doesn't sense any reaction from the heli (as it is sat on your bench) it then tries to correct the movement even more and as a result you see your servos moving to their mechanical extend sometimes. I understand that but my concern is that there are times when I will power up the system and the servos will start moving without me moving the heli or the sticks. Sometimes I will even move the cyclic stick in a couple circles and then servos will start moving in the same direction again. Also I know moving the heli during initialization can negatively affect the gyro performance, so once I plug it in, I make it a point not to even breath wrong until the gyro has initialized.

Make sure you double check the swash compensation directions. If they are wrong you are doomed... e.g FBL will feel the heli drift left and instead of feeding right to hold position it will feed more left...
You servos will do strange things on the bench its not like FB... Thats why its very important to double and triple check everything before you take to the air.. I would also suggest, removing blades and spool up the heli to check for any swash movement at full h/s. If there is movement i.e. swash tilt , its likely to be vibration which needs to be addressed before flying.. |
