After reading Number's thread and a few others I found new inspiration in my little 250. I just put the 100th flight on her yesterday. I have a bone stock 250plus dfc except it has fiberglass align canopy on it. I've been reading through these threads about the weight difference in parts etc. so I wanted to jump on that band wagon. Out of curiosity I Just now weighed in at 275g. From what I've been reading sub 300g is where you want to be and I'm getting this weight stock with the heavy fiberglass canopy. Are you guys all trying to be sub 300g with the flight battery or just the heli?

We're getting the total flying weight under 300g, you're probably running in the 340g range at the moment.

I'm 270g all up with battery and no canopy. Flies sweet like this and crashes like a feather so far lol.

Ok, roger that! Yes, with battery I'm at 348g. Time to diet folks. Food for thought. I have the torque tube model and was thinking of converting to carbon boom and belt drive. I know the boom is lighter but I wonder what is the difference between torque tube and parts needed vs. belt and parts needed? Which version is lighter? Also I'm looking to run some high hs like Number is. The torque tube gear box on this model makes me worry. It caused my only crash at 6 flights in. Was just flying around and the gears spun on the shaft causing me to loose the tail. It did this 3 times but the other 2 times I almost crashed. When I bought new little gears I CA'd them from new. I've only ran about 85% since because I'm not sure how strong they are.
Few questions:
1. Is belt more durable and perhaps less vibration (smoother running) on this model? Additionally I see where an infinity kevlar belt is recommended by Number, supposed to be the shizzle.
2. Which set-up is lighter TT or belt both using carbon boom?
3. If I'm missing something please fill in. I'm trying to obtain best performance, smoothest running, and durability.

I think the belt is lighter, but I'm not 100% sure. What I can say is that I'm a huge fan of the belt, 370+ flights on my 250 and that belt hasn't skipped a beat. It flies great, has survived numerous tail impacts, and has even survived me snapping the carbon boom in two.

I've replaced the belt 3 times after crashes, but haven't ever had to touch the tail gears, it's totally maintenance free.

shannimal you can drop at least 10g by changing the fiberglass canopy for the plastic one.
The carbon boom is marginal about 1g if that in difference to the aluminium one.
As for the weight of TT vs Belt I donít know, I use the TT and love it no issues with it and I am running 4700rpm in IU2.

Thx guys. I'm so stoked on this heli all of the sudden lol. Don't know why. Thinking Number is to blame after seeing him rip lol. I could easily get caught up in all sort of conversations about this and that. Since this thread has to do with weights of items I'll not derail and stick to that subject. They won't fit without adapters. I have heard that they are the same as the lynx ones though.

I had thought about getting the lynx ones and making new frame sides to fit them. They would be great for a super light build.

This thread hasn't been posted to for a few months, but I just noticed the discussion about tt vs. belt. I weighed mine before and after the conversion and if memory serves, converting to belt shaved about 12g off my AUW.

I'm not sure on that number (it has been a long time) but it was definitely lighter after the conversion.
