Never on the 600 or the 700.

Have you had them strip or was this just a general question about the integrity of MD gears.

Tom,

Have you checked the tail pitch lever to see if it had made contact with the gears?

Default MD 500 tail gear

Can't find any reason for both gears to strip. All the bearings are okay as well. I had just spooled it up and just before lift off the gears stripped.

Yea, that's very strange. I piled in a 600 a few months back and didn't have to replace any gears.

your new gears are on the way though.

Default md500 tail gears replaced

I got the new gears and put them in, had to do some trimming on torque tube gear to get it in and it worked good. I still don't know why the original gears stripped. PS did get the heli up for it first flight today.

Default MD 500 first flight

It was good, seemed to be real stable. Still have to figure out governor problem when I spool it up,but I'll figure that out.

Default skookum governor

I'm using a YEP ESC with a 720 Skookum, when I start to spoil up I have to flip the throttle hold on and off real quick then it'll lock into the governor, if I don't flip throttle hold on and off it'll just spool up to maximum rpm.

By max speed do you mean 100% throttle if so any idea what the head speed went too. This could be the reason for the stripped gears if it spooled up beyond design limits. I can't help with the Skookum/YEP setup never used either.

Yea, something sounds as if it's not configured correctly.
