Seems to make sense having an airfoil on one side only instead of two fighting each other.

I have. The blades look HUGE compared to ordinary "3D blades". They also have some lift at middle stick / 0 pitch so be careful when lifting up the first time. I used to start the heli (= come out of hold) with blades at 0 pitch but now I need to keep some negative pitch to help it stay on the ground while spooling up..
The blades are perfectly balanced and of top quality. I got mine about one year ago directly from Spinblades. Didn't notice too much of a difference in flight time when keeping the HS the same. But you can fly with significantly lower HS and thus gain quite a bit more air time if you wish. |

I have got a set of 710 asymetrical ones. The chord is very wide compared to any other blades. I have to say the quality of the product is top. I haven't checked the balance or flown them yet - still to do.

Don't forget that with these blades you reduce your RPM by 20-30% for peak efficiency. When doing so the torque increases and at the lower RPM the tail may not be strong enough. Spin Blades has 105mm wide chord asymetrical tail blades also (which we sell). These tail blades have equal or greater thrust at lower RPM as 3D tail blades have at high RPM.
Best to purchase the mains and tails as a set. One thing you notice with these asymentrical blades is rotor noise is less. These make a 'whispy' is hissing sound instead a 'bark' or rumble like 3D blades do.

How well do the asym tail blades work when trying to push the nose left? Theory would say that they don't work as well in that direction, but in real life it might not be a problem?

left yaw not a problem because the slower turning mains are generating more torque in that direction. Response is equal in both directions.

DJ, so would you say the asymmetrical Spins 105 are better than symmetrical Edge 115?

The Spin tail blades will put out more thrust than Edge blades of the same size. Spins are 105. An Edge 115 will likely put out the same thrust as the Spin 105.

I've got a request in to them to come out with some asymmetrical 800 or 810mm mains and 120mm tails. Hopefully they see the demand. It always helps when end users send them an email letting them know what you want. It lets them know there are other sizes that are in demand.
here's their contact page: http://shop.spinblades.com/en/contacts.html

Would 105's be needed for 620 mains? I see they also make 95's. And can anybody confirm if I can run 620 mains on a Trex 600 without any other mods?

Wow! Smooth as silk! Tested SB today. on trex 550 mounted SB 550mm blades and SB95mm on the tail. Dropped throttle curve 15% she flew smooth as can be. Lifted my canon t2i like nothing was there. Very stable even with 15knot winds. Will report back mah used later.

Good news. I have heard today that 800's are coming in June. We'll be getting them soon after. Now to get them to make some asymmetrical 120mm tail blades.

I flew for a while with them and the spinblades asymettrical tails too. Great on no wind days.... But if there is any gusts of wind they baloon far too much for my liking. As for balance they are perfect out of the box. My ace one definatly didnt get on with them in wind.
Hope this helps. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2 |
