6S A123, Typhoon 500 1800Kv, 14-tooth pinion
Quote:
Batteries: 6S A123 2300mAh Motor: Turnigy Typhoon 500 (1800Kv) Pinion: 12 tooth, 14 tooth ESC: Align 75A (for T-Rex 600, it detects 6S A123 as over-charged 5S LiPo and lets you fly the whole pack without kicking in LVC! Yay!) Head speed in hover: 100/90/100 curve, 12-tooth, 2450RPM 100/90/100 curve, 14-tooth, 2590RPM (very constant throughout flight, start and end of the pack within 40RPM of one another; I'm certain I could bump this up a bit running 100% flat) Flight time: 6:30 on 12-tooth, by 7:00 you're on the ground. On 14-tooth, 4:50 before voltage begins to sag, 5:15 you're on the ground one way or another! Recharge: 11 minutes zip-charge from car battery as 2P pack. Recharge starts at 15A per pack, then stabilizes within a few minutes to 10A per pack (20A if you charge 3S2P like I do). Total 11-minute recharge for the packs, then I fly again. I use Dan Baldwin's "DB Terminator" to stop the charge at 3.85v/cell; they quickly stabilize down to 3.43v/cell like usual. With car idling, running off the alternator, it's more like 40A to start and an 8-minute recharge. Not hard 3D flight, just putting around upright & inverted with basic aerobatics. Might go to 7S A123 once I get a better way to field-charge at 20+ amps...

Need Power Options Help, Plzzz.
Hey guys I need some help.
I have a Trex 500 clone, with a Align Airwolf fuselage. 500M motor. I need some help with my power options. I am not into 3D at all, just want nice relaxing scale flight. I want maximum flight time, but bear in mind the fuselage is 370g by itself. And thats without the servo for the retracts. Also I have seen some guys using larger than 430 blades as well, so any info on that would be helpfull too. In a nutshell I need; Pinion options Battery options Blade options Thx |

8S 500
Jazz 55ESC w/ SportBEC Motors: 3026-1000Kv (17t) and Neu 1706/2Y (18t) Packs: 2x 4S Flightmax 20C 2200mAh (440g) , and 2x 4S Turnigy 30C (500g) Scorpion motor: 4 minutes @ 2950 pulls around 1300mAh on average (60%) Very powerful and very hard to bog even with 13º collective and 10.5º cyclic. Flightmax 20C packs can get up to 125ºF on a hot day (95ºF) and hard flight, the Turnigy 30C packs max out at 110. Not much of a noticeable difference in power. The 30C are somewhat hard to fit under the stock canopy. Neu motor: very limited testing. Not quite as strong as the scorpion but slightly more efficient. 30C packs definitely help with this motor. One of these days I'll put this back on there and do some more testing. I am absolutely loving this 8S setup, and it will blow right past a stock 6S setup. I'm worried about the heat of the 20C packs hurting the longevity. By the end of the flight, the 20C packs are very slightly puffed, but I haven't noticed any drop in performance. I average ~20A in flight, well within the pack's specifications, but I presume the scorpion motor is pulling more than the 20C packs can handle in peaks. My flights are usually a couple minutes of smooth 3D, and I fly more extreme at the end with long periods of tick-tocks.

Sorry if this is a repeat. I have read through most of this and havn't seen anyone specifically ask.
Is the ICE75 BEC enough for a flybarless 3g 500? Stock servos and the align 3g unit with stock tail servo? Anything I might want to consider. I have heard of people using the CC 10a bec but don't want to buy it if I don't have to? Thanks -Beall |

Hey Polar,
I'm running a Zippy 3000 5 cell and 15t. Nice relaxing flights and cheap 40 dollar batteries. Mike. |

Check the weight. It might be just as heavy or heavier than a 6s 5000mAh 25C pack...which would provide the same amp draw...and twice the capacity. Either would be too heavy for my tastes on a 425 bladed bird but I'd choose the latter (like a hyperion CX) first.

I looked up the hard case version....which is obviously pretty heavy. OOPS.
Wow, that's actually pretty impressive. Personally, I'd rather put in more capacity than discharge rate but a 50C pack should be pretty robust on a T500. |

Hey Elios,
Those 3200 venom packs that you have right now, how are they holding up for you? And how do they work in the Trex500? Right now im running 2 3s 2250mah Thunder Power packs in series which give great power, but I would rather save them for my Trex 450. |

Trex 500 vbar with Hacker A40-10s 1600kv 8 pole, 12T here.
Using ice75 esc. Head speed 2600, pull around 55 amps on climbouts making 1100watts or maybe little more. Getting 6 minutes flight times. Fly sport and 3d.

Were do I start!
I have tried a few, but so far my favorite is my current! ICE75 Vertigo 1800KV 6S I have bag full of different ones, 2200-3300 Zippy Turnigy, blue, voltz Thunderpower, Outrage, SMC, I like the 3000ish size, or small 3300s Seeing watt readings around 1500 continuous, Amps running in the 50-70 range, temps are a little high 170+ motor is 135 tops batter was 105 after this flight...

ICE 75 and scorp
hello all, my stock 500L motor has cooked magnets, and is already very weak, so
its time to upgrade i got my self a CC ice 75A ESC, and i am struggling about what motor should i choose? i will choose ether a scorpion 1600 or 1400KV i fly 3D, and kinda hard i understand that on paper, the scorpion 1400 is more efficient, and has gobs of power but is very power hungry and will probably short my flight time to 3.5 minutes while the 1600 will be easier on the packs with longer flight times and lower temps my question is, can a scorp 1600 hold the headspeed well under load like in a 4 point tictoc, can it sustain good HS under that kind of load so what is your opinion, which is better for 3D scorpion 1400 or 1600? thanks all
