Dunno how many teeth, wouldn't know how many it should have for Trex anyway, but I have got the faulty part out now, and it looks the same. The faulty part has 25 teeth, I think. The plastic gear is just spinning freely on the shaft. You should see their idea of a spline. Just a few scuff marks on the shaft. It is very very poor. So poor that I would recommend anyone to change it with a better component before it lets go on them too. Jonny, or anyone else with an EXI.

I decided to order that one anyway, because I wanted it here quickly and there is still a chance it will leave today, and I have paid for overnight, so I might get it tomorrow. Don't want to waste a day of flying. If it isn't right then too bad, I will have gambled and lost.

When I upgraded my frame, I went straight for the T-Rex main gear set. Good quality and meshes well - as it should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike

BTW T-Rex main gear has 150 teeth, and I have 13 teeth pinion on the Scorpion

Yes it does have 150. Just counted them, kind of, used my vernier to mark out batches of 15 and got to 10 batches, so 150 it is. Looks like the bit I ordered will do then but doesn't look like it will be here tomorrow. Haven't got a confirmation of despatch.

Never mind, I will try to mend the one I have, by drilling and pinning. Looks like that's how they do it on the better ones anyway. Can but try. Thanks for the help.

Can't wait to get home tomorrow and drain a few batts off, now that [from the sublime to the ridiculous] I have 7 of them!!!!!!!! Must fit the new tail servo to the heli, but she is behaving so well at the moment, I don't want to upset the balance/setup. Will hover literally hands off and barely drift. But there is a snag with the current tail servo [the futaba 3154] which is gradually getting worse. And I am due a belt change soon too...

Finally got to fly a few packs through the belt today Tried to get a vid but the cam ran out of memory. I came awfully close to crashing into a snow bank a couple times on the second pack but I got some good side tic tocs and inverted 8's in. The tic tocs are so much easier with the zippy packs than with the stock eskys. Is it normal that the belt can do side tic tocs but not tail down tic tocs? It seems to just fall every time I try to do a tail down tic toc.

Ahh, sutty, they use that pin method on rc cars to hold the hex wheel hub onto the driveshaft cup.

Really cool little trick though. I like it

Yippee, just test flown under the security light, with no problems. As for the repair, well it's not like I invented anything, it is the solution on some of the ones you can buy. I actually saw it whilst looking for the replacement item. Some suppliers product photographs are so clear you can actually see the little pin, so I just copied that. Having said that I am pleased with the outcome and am certain it will hold up. It is definitely better than it was when it was new. As I said before the shaft is hardly roughened to key the gear. Just look at photograph number 1 again and you will see a few little dents in the shaft. That is their idea of some grip to stop it spinning on the shaft. It is pathetic really.

Lol no! How do you know yesterday's weather sucked so much Something like 91 km/h gusts Tomorrow looks like it'll be pretty cold so I'll be back to simin again. I'll probably be working on funnels in all orientations.

It's 3:25am been rebuilding that mess I posted on saturday. I'm almost done just need to swap oneways, install MG, install paddles, and do the set up! I want to finish so bad but I'm getting too tired. Just thought I'd post my progress before bed.
Good Night Guys!

Tried several times today to get onboard video footage from my heli using my FlycamoneV2. Having succeeded in getting only 30 seconds of recording each time, I finally gave up and decided to Google what might be the issue. Turns out that it is probably the cold, which soon affects the tiny onboard lipo, which explains why I have been unable to record anything successfully outside for a couple of months now. Works perfectly indoors by the way. Anyway, I am going to power it from my BEC instead, which should solve the problem, and I have made up an extension lead to suit. Apparently it requires 5V, 350mA. I wonder if my BEC will cope with the extra strain. Oh well if I have a brown out as a result, you'll be the first to know, lol.

So I was putzing around on my workbench late last night, and all of a sudden I hear the dog barking like he was tearing some one up and my wife starts screaming.

I grab the brick gun and head upstairs pretty much expecting to have to shoot an intruder. The living room is in chaos, my wife is standing on a chair yelling, the Christmas tree is tipped over, the dog is trying to get under the couch, the cat is streaking around the room at warp speed, and I'm scanning for blood and some one to shoot.

Suddenly the cat stops, lays down, and begins swallowing a mouse.

Once order is restored, it turns out that the wife was standing next to the Christmas tree and saw a mouse in the tree, she screamed and threw a shoe at it. The mouse jumped down to a lower branch, the cat saw it, leaped at it, toppled the tree, the mouse headed under the couch, the dog saw it go under the couch and went nuts, the mouse fled the couch, the cat spotted it and the chase was on. The wife jumped up on the chair and I stumbled into the middle of the whole mess.

The cat ate the mouse, the dog was tired out and took a nap, the wife got down off the chair, I had to repair the damage, set the tree up, and go to Wal-Mart for some mouse traps.

All I started out to do was put new blades on my Honey Bee. Shesh.....
