Default need some opinion's

I'm faced with having to buy a replacement motor for my belt cp v2. I had to replace the pinion on my motor and to make a long story short I ruined one of the bearings. I have replaced the bearing but it's still not perfect. What I'm wanting to know is if it's just as well to buy the exact replacement or get something a little better. I want to use my stock esc and don't feel capable yet of programming an esc if that is nessacary after putting a different motor on it. I'm not sure what motor would be an upgrade to the stock one so if anyone would care to suggest one that would be great.
Thanks for any input.

I just got the Sonic 3550 and it's a great motor. Plunty of bang for your buck and being pretty new it will grow with me.. As far as programming an ESC don't let that stop you from getting one and upgrading your heli. I felt the same till I got mine and altho I had a faulty one that caused allot of problems it is so much better now knowing it's not getting to hot... Good luck

I have the Sonic too (bought as a HDX450 motor from HeliDirect). It's a great little motor, runs cool and plenty of power for this n00b.

Ok well this sounds like it would be a good choice for me. Do I have to buy a new esc to use this motor? Also, I haven't exactly been able to find this particular motor yet. If one of you guys have a link to it that would be great. Thanks a ton for the advice.

Yep, go for the Sonix Jimmy - the stock ESC should be able to handle it OK. BTW, I had to change my ESC before the motor; the stock motor is in fact one of the better more reliable components!!!

The shafts are 3.17 so the stock pinion will not work.

You can get the pinions in packs with different numbers of teeth, for example:

http://www.helidirect.com/align-moto...z020-p-377.hdx

So you can see which best suits your combo.

I'm using an 11T pinion on that HDX450 motor -- bought from HeliDirect. I don't have my transmitter up to full power, I'm throttling to 60% so I think I should really have a 9T or 10T on it instead, to give my ESC a break.

I'm using a Turnigy Plush 40A ESC -- but I hear that you can use a 30A ESC too.
