Default Motor cutting out with increased collective

I have a relatively new 4G3 with the stock motors (not brushless).

The motor cuts out when I start to pass mid stick, I can slowly and meticulously bring the heli to a hover, but if I move a little to quick on the collective it cuts out.

I have removed the blades and I can power the heli to full throttle with no cutting out.

I put the blade back on, it cuts out, I've checked the tracking and it looks great, it seems that as the pitch increases and drag increases and now the motor cuts off unlike before.

Is the motor dying? or am I missing something with the head and the blades or something else?

Nothing is bent and all ball links are smooth and free moving, very weird.

Jon

That's a strange one, first thing I would check is the lead from the lipo to the 4 in 1, the wires are brittle and strands can easily break, particularly where it connects to the 4 in 1, you'll probably need a magnifying glass to inspect it.

If that checks out then I would replace the motor, some are better and last longer than others.

Thanks!

I will probably have to replace the motor, because I first thought the prob was the batteries and bought brand new ones and it cutting out with them.

Hey there, mine was doing the same thing. I found that my servos were binding a little at full collective. It was using up a little power and on this weak little bird it was just enough to slow the motor down. Backed off my swash arms and all is good now. Might be worth double chcecking with motor unplugged.
