Default When will other Motor ESC options be available

Planning on getting an Xxtreme in June, and was wondering if anyonwe knew whether Kontronik motor and ESC options would be available by then
Also will Mikado will be offering a package deal with different component options.
Not that I dont like scorpion / YGE, just would prefer Kontronik.

I'd love to know this too.

I would prefer to swap mine out for Kontroniks

I've got a Kosmik 200A ESC and Pyro 800-40L on backorder with ModelFlight in Australia.

I've been told end of March/early April but would like a 17T pinion MIK4488. They're not in stock yet.

This is the thing....you buy the Kontronik for the awesome governor and the awesome BEC and reliability. The XXtreme comes with the YGE 160 and uses the VBAR gov (which is better than the Kontronik as it has the ability to "see" inputs before the rpm sag and pre-adjust). Then if you go HV servos (most are) then you use a direct 2s lipo (which is more reliable than any BEC assuming you charge it ). Basically it comes down to reliability....the YGE has been that in the past and still remains to be true so why would you need the Kontronik any more???
Personally, I have not used a Kontronik since the VBAR gov was introduced, and until the prices come down, I won't any more as there are MANY viable options..........Ron

What you say makes sense but the Kontroniks is soooo proven, time after time again and again.

I'm happy with what I'm running now just I like to use Kontronik, it's as simple as that really.

And because of people like me the prices won't be coming dwn yet

What he (jamin_00) said.

I really like Pyro motors and I just think that when combined with their own brand ESC, they're the closest thing to the perfect combo (in my opinion only).

I didn't say anything bad about Scorpion, YGE or not using the Vbar governor.

I just want 'em, so I'm goin' get 'em

Pyro 800 motor is delayed unfortunately.

I've already tested reactive governor (not YGE) on the XXTreme, it's not for me, I actually wont fly a heli which I cannot go VBar governor, but that's me
We all have different preferences.

"Other set-ups":

By in large, the vast majority of guys who buy the XXtreme collective pump the machine to some degree of another, as I've witnessed by watching the slew of videos being produced now from new owners out there. The current power system of the model (160+ amp ESC and 5035 motor), was targeted to handle these power needs (wants).

But as new products emerge in the future, such powerful systems are not absolutely required on the XXtreme 800 for satisfying flight performance, depending of course on your needs (wants).

I'm not a 3D pilot. I fly more like an F3C pilot, fast forward flight with smooth, large and graceful aerobatics, mixed with some inverted work etc, but no maneuvers that require massive collective pumping.

So I've been experimenting, and now have a smaller lighter 5025 motor (wound for the same 380kv), smaller lighter 4400-4500mah 14S packs, and a 120 amp esc (an old Power Jazz), still using the 813mm disc, and the system handles my flying style just fine. And, the heli weighs almost a pound less (talk about a light disc loading...and long 9 minute flights) (-:

The point is that just like it is now with 600 and 700 series models, in the future, I think there will be lots of options for 800 class models, and in every case, you don't necessarily need the absolutely most powerful system available to have a great flying machine.

(-: Dave

Has anyone of you beta testers tested the new Kontronik Kosmik? As I understand that ESC should allow the V-Bar governor. I'm spoiled with the Heli Jive on my 600SE and looking for ESC's that support external governors.

You mean like the YGE that comes in the Kit? That should support external Gov, all recent YGEs do.
