13 t ? That will give you 3300 RPM headspeed at 100% throttle. Even more on a fresh pack. The Belt wasn't really designed for that, allthough the new head and carbon frame will help.
Flight time will suffer. And it'll put more stress on the mechanical and electric components. The ESC might be the first victim indeed, curious to hear how long it will last. My wild guess would be one hard flight, lol. The motor is known to be rather reliable, allthough I once had a failed bearing, but that might be an exception. Just wondering if the reliability might have something to do with the fact that most people run it on a 11t pinion, not stressing it too hard. Good luck anyway, but be careful.

I first installed my scorp-8 on my belt-cp with 13t pinion. Nearly shook it apart, so I swapped it back to stock motor and put the scorp on my t-rex, where it has remianed ever since.

I agree with Raf, my CF belt-cp frame couldn't handle it, plus the flight time suffered too much for the amount of packs I had available.

Forget to mention that the motor might start bogging a lot, as it won't be up to the task to keep the headspeed steady at 3300 RPM, the motor is only around 200 Watts. And a rough estimation, based on measurements with other 450s, makes me think you might need around 150 Watts to hover at those speeds, leaving a very small reamining power band during pitch pumps or so. But as I said, it's only a rough estimation, your experience might be different, depending on setup, weight, pitch range, blade size, etcetera.

i did catch a video on youtube shortly after buying the belt cf of a dude using a scorpion that RIPPED the frame in half.

not to derail the dts mod thread...

i actually had the bird taken apart (needed room for trex's) and found this thread and thought it would be a fun mod to do

I didn't see any noticable vibrations when i was at mid-stick on the ground. My TC is 0-35-65-85-100 with just about -10/+10 in ID. I'll probably switch to the 11t pinion, but I'm tempted to see how the 13t performs.

If you can't get a lower pinion, reduce your TH curve.

A massivethankyou to all who posted pictures of the DTS mod. a picture speaks a million words.
i have moded the back two servos with home made mounts, they work a charm. I will mod the front tonight.
I could not have done it without your help, very much appreciated!

Hey Sazml,

Glad all the pics have been a help to you

IMHO - It's only worth doing the front one if you have issues with it being sloppy. If there is slop, try changing some ball links and checking screws first. If that doesn't work then it is time to consider doing the front servo mod.

If I recall, you cannot make a mount for the front servo, so you do have to hack the frame a little, which inevitably weakens it.

Just saying, not worth doing unless necessary. Good Luck with it
