Default 690sx. How many batt trays?

Guys,

I have four sets of packs (6s+6s) and i am thinking if it's really needed to get another three battery trays so that i don't have to use the same tray for all packs.

Do you use more than one?

Just leave the tray in place and slide packs in and out with a few straps around em like a V1.
I still don't see the V2 tray as an "upgrade".

In fact, anyone has some V1 frames they removed to "upgrade" to V2 I'd be happy to buy em. Shoot me a PM.

I have 5 pairs of batteries on trays for my 690sx and 6 pairs for 600sx...

I never remove the batteries from the trays. Batteries are charged while on trays as well.... I just use extensions on my parallel board so that wires can reach batteries easy.

I must admit it's much easier for me to load packs into my 600SX with old frames than it is my 690SX with new frames. It's an order of magnitude in terms of time to get powered up. I bought a V2 mainly for the new canopy. If I break these frames in a crash I'll replace them with old ones. Cheaper too. Oh and that battery plate weighs about 40g

Sliding a stick pack in is way easier that two 6s packs IMO.

My source don't have the amount of trays i need so i will use the provided one.

True but I've done both ways. Rear pack still gets no velcro and one strap. It's held in position by front pack and rear wall of chassis or foam block.
Front pack get little patch at front to prevent sliding and two straps. Same if I run a single 6S for Slo-Mo flights.

Only way I'd strap packs to a tray is if they are dedicated to that machine, no sharing.

For you guys that have only 2 or 3 flights worth of batteries and happy to keep them all permanently fixed to sliding plates, maybe it's efficient for you. When I go flying I can knock out 20 flights in a couple hours and get back home before the traffic builds up. I'm not going to buy 20 sliding plates. For me it's so much faster to chuck a couple of packs into my old frames and strap them in than it is to line them up on a sliding plate. I have to get them perfect or the straps catch on the frame openings. Even then the plate doesn't go in that easily. It's stiff in some places and the straps often catch the frame openings. Maybe I will become more efficient at it with time.

Good suggestions.

For now i will not use extra plates and i will see how efficient it is to use the same tray for 4 flights.

Can't wait for my kit to arrive!
