11T won't give you enough head speed. You should go 12T.

Hi,

I have chosen 11t as I have a 1800kv motor to go on it. With those and a 80 throttle it will run at 2949rpm.. This is the old ESP not the pro which has a slowed down tail for the higher head speed. Plus I want it as efficient as possible for longer flights as I am just figure 8 ing.

Chris..

Only go the 12T helical on an ESP if you are going to use a Gov

I have a question guys and I'm a little new to the big helis. What do not need if you are pulling an old head apart on an esp? Also, should you use the new pro main rotor grips instead of the old esp grips?

Ok everyone...I assembled my new DFC head and it feels extremely notchy. Is there such a thing as over tightening the screws and effecting the thrust bearings? I am kinda lost right now. I checked to make sure the thrust bearings were right(in/out).Washer is on the bearing prior to putting thrust bearings in. I just don't know

Did you grease the bearings?

make sure you didn't get any loctite in the thrust bearings

you can't over tighten those bolts as the step down in the end of the spindle is machined so that there is just enough space for the bearings

Is it an Align spindle?

Is it one or both grips that feel notch?

Did you remember the spacer between the radial bearing and the inner thrust bearing race?

This thread has nothing to do with the helical gear, it is purely about the new FBL head

It's an Align spindle. Both sides have a notch, but the one side you can feel it in 4 positions. If I loosen them just a bit, they feel better???? Everything is put together properly. I had them apart and together at least a dozen times.

Thought you might like to see this Deet...
I didn't realize that there seems to be some concern on the lower profile of the head...?
As I stated in the other thread.. I'm not informed on whether or not a 700 say, has more flex in the blades then say a 500? I would think the blades are designed proportionally??

You can see in the stills its blade flex.

I have grab the tip of my blades and tried to get the blade to touch the boom, couldn't do it, closest I got was about 40mm

Plain white blades... i wonder what they were.

I have always been an advocate of good quality blades

And BTW there are THOUSANDS of videos out there of boom strikes on FB heads, It happens.

But If anything the DFC head has less movement.

Deet, do you know if the new head is lighter, or heavier than the original Align FBL head that comes in the 3G kit?

Deet, I converted my ESP FB to the DFC head, same way you described in first post, now I am having trouble getting my swash back down to zero pitch. The lowest I can get is 4 degrees positive at mid stick. All servos centered with no sub trim. Besides finding new links, do have any suggestions?
