Default High Voltage Rudder Servos

Has anyone simply tried a higher speed 6.0 volt full sized tail servo to sharpen up the tail set up?

I have mine bumped to 6.0 volts, and it i 0.02 seconds faster, and even looks faster on the bench. Haven't tried it yet, hopefully this week sometime.

I'm using the MKS DS8910 760us Tail Servo with these specs-
Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.054sec/60°
Stall Torque (4.8V):27.91 oz/in. (2.01kg.cm)
Motor Type: Coreless Motor
Bearing Type: Dual Ball Bearings-

Pretty hard to beat for a small servo used with Futaba G520.

From the specs it looks like it would be a pretty good tail servo for the money. I sort of wonder what the baddest tail servo out there right now is.

I flew the Lepton using the DS-620 align rudder servo at 6.0 volts and the tail seems very crisp and is holding during hard punch outs very well. I'm very happy with this set up. Thogh the servo does show a sign of heat.

Is that DS8910 a mini or a full size? Price and specs look good. I've been considering replacing my logictech 6100T with another servo as a part of my FBL conversion.

It is the DS620 full sized coreless servo. From what all the RR guys say, it is a simple Cyclic servo, not designed for rudder use, but it seems fast and strong enough for my likings. My tail is rock solid running at 6.0v. I have also upped my pitch back to 11-11 and have massive puch out power. I was currently running 10- 10 to help tame the tail, but not anymore.

I would like to let a pro pilot take it for a spin in fast backwards flight and truly test it.

I suspect they were confusing it with the 610 which is a cyclic servo. I'm no pro but bring it out to Blacksburg and I'm thrash it.

The DS620 is intended as a tail servo and was bundled with various gyro combos - it is superceded now by the DS650. They work very well for all but the most discerning 3d work and are very happy on 6V. You need to make sure your electrics are up to the power though as running servos on 6V pulls more current

I use 4STP-3400mah batteries that are discharged properly and balanced every charge. Hyperion 80Amp SBEC. I think I going to goto the 3700mah batteries this summer, as the 3400 forces me to pull the battery forward for proper CG.

The CC bec is what concerns me, as I have read about so many failures out of them.
