.....and is anyone flying IR cameras? I need something to penetrate tree canopy for wildlife tracking (both visually and telemetry through radio collars) - any suggestions please

Hey Bob, I think the most common would be the 16-35 and 17-40 for variable lenses and the Canon 24mm IS Prime lens.

I don't think you will be able to track wildlife heat signatures through the canopy with a modified camera (something that now takes IR pictures). Instead you would need to look into a true thermal imaging cam like the flir TAU series. There is also another company making a comparable camera to the TAU that is about $1600.
