I have an E-Flite Park 400 brushless for my Shogun. I was running it on my Blade CP and got the Shogun for Christmas. The 8T gear that I had on my Blade worked on the Shogun, but only hit the top half of the main gear. I had it so that the tail gear was totally hit by the pinion since that gear is smaller and more easily damaged.

I had a small crash and stripped the top half of the main gear. I had ordered an 8T pinion from Hobby People that is direct from EF for the Shogun. It is the longer gear. I specifically ordered the 2 mm version because the Park 400 is 2 mm shaft.

I got the gear and it doesn't fit. It slides on, but is not tight. Can anyone tell me why? The gear is supposed to be 2 mm and the shaft on the Park 400 from E-Flite is also 2 mm. I checked the spec's on both. Why would they not fit together? Is there something special I am supposed to do? The gear from my stock Blade Motor fit on the Park 400 and it was supposed to be 2 mm also. It was tight and I had to use my vice to get it on.

Any help would be very appreciated...

You can use some Locktite bearing mount to mount the pinion, as long as it's not too loose on the shaft first.

The Loctite product # is 680. It works great, just let it cure overnight especially if the fit is kind of loose.

Thanks for the replies. I actually got a replyl with the same answer from the manufacturer of the gear.

I did try something else and wanted to see what you all thought of this. Since the gears are brass they heat up good and solder sticks to them really good. What I did was melt some solder into the hole of the gear and let it cool. I then pressed the gear onto the shaft using my vice and it seems to be very tight. Any thoughts? Was this a bad idea? It seems it should work at least as well as the Locktite.

It more than likely wont hold like that but now slip it off again and add some locktite and re-assemble it and then i would trust it. I've had pinions slip and slid up the motor shaft until it unmeshes from the pinion with expensive results.
