Yes that would be ideal... those small hondas are amazing. I have a 3500W generator for the camper.. but its 70Lbs and just too heavy for me (I had back surgery) but I do bring it to funflys.. best of both worlds as long as I have help!

With some relays and a switch you could have both. Switch off, batteries are in series, and with the switch on, could have them in parallel for charging.

What is the default discharge/charge current rate in the 4010 for the storage mode? As far as I can see, there is no way for the user of entering this.

When I use resistance discharge (not regenerative) I can get up to 5.5A for 6s packs. That's pretty good!... a 1C discharge. I haven't used regenerative yet.. I usually don't since I only charge a pack if I am going to fly it.

So... the storage mode will always use 1C? Is there really no way of choosing to run f.ex. 0.5C?

No you can choose any amps you want with the wheel.... I was just stating the max for a 6s pack.

Yea, with the discharge option you can, but not in the storage mode, as far as I can see. Am I missing something? I just started using this charger.

Oh you are right... I did see the "storage" is an automatic mode and I'm not sure how it computes all that... I just use "discharge" so I can change the ending voltage to what I want.

Yep, you will gain more control using that function over the storage menu. This charger lacks a percentage reading - both for estimating time left when charging/discharging and for setting your own end point.

Set your discharge rate and then flip to storage mode and it will use that rate to discharge.

Thank you! Does it use the charge rate when it has to charge the packs to obtain the target voltage as well?

Yes. Sometimes I feel they could have made the interface a bit easier to use.

Default Re: Next generation charger! Future proof?

Mathias, this is what I finally figured out about the the discharge rate in storage mode. The charger appears calculate the discharge rate like this.

W = V * A

W is discharge rate watts. For the 4010, the discharge rate is 130W per channel or 200W synchronous. I don't know what synchronous is, so I'll use the other number. Now,

A = W / V

so for a 6S battery we get

A = 130 / 25 = 5.2

Now the interesting thing about iChargers is the amps are always at maximum, so as the voltage drops, the amps go up. In this case, as the voltage nears 22 we get

A = 130 / 22 = 5.91

That's what I've figured out anyway. Someone who knows more will likely correct me.
