Default trex 600 tail wag..

Before anyone says it i searched it and couldnt find anything relating to it

I have a buddy with a Trex600DFC running the 3gx and align kit servos, tail servo ball is closest to center and head speed governed at 2000, and he is getting some killer tail wag that starts after a right turn, it doesnt do it with left turns, and once it starts, making a left turn will make it quit.

rock solid hovers and rock solid left turns, it ONLY happens goin to the right.

Cool

If there is any binding on the tail links, rod guides that will cause wags, should be silky smooth, that's all I can think of, O'well I don't know anything about fbl!!! Ken.

Sounds like the gain is a little too high.
Lower the gain on the tail a few points and you should be fine

Default tail wag

My thoughts: tail behavior is not symmetrical. Wag during asymmetrical conditions means gain too high.

gain on a -100/+100 scale has been backed down to +10 with same affects

Too much servo throw and mechanical gain can cause weird tail issues like this. Have you tried moving the servo ball in on the servo horn for better tail resolution?

its in the hole closest to center.

could it be a little too much rudder throw over pitching or stalling the tail blades out causing it?

Hole farthest into center should be giving to you the least amount of throw then, not too much. The funky tail issues typically occur when the servo ball is too far out on the arm causing too fast and too much servo throw. This will cause high mechanical gain, and force the electronic gain very low to compensate, but you can also have the ball in too far as well, which makes the output at the tail too slow. Its easy enough to move it and see if anything changes for you

could end points be an issue? getting to much throw one direction and then haveing the slightest amount of slop causing a bind issue?

I've had exactly the same thing on all my 3GX equipped helis. The solution is simple once you know what to do. Go into the 3GX software and turn down 'Rudder Locking Gain' from default 70 to something around 40 or so.

Also set 'Rudder Delay' to zero. To get it to zero use the stick to set zero while monitoring in the software, then let it time out. If you dont let it time out but press the button instead, then it defaults back to some other value greater than zero.

This worked 100% on all of my helis 500, 600 and 700 size.

I'm assuming you have upgraded to v4.0 software?.. if not that's worth doing too.

Yes, monitor on a PC with the 3GX software. It's a bit too hit or miss to try to do it all with the sticks only.
