Default Lynx extended boom collar ??

Hi guys
I have put my 450x into the dirt and decided to go with the lynx extended tail boom
It came with a aluminum collar but no details
Looking at the collar I don't think it could go on the main frame end as the boom has to fit onto the plastic lug in the rear tail gearbox ,so I gather it fits on the rear tail end ??
I gather it adds strength , but because there are only 2 holes for the tail assembly there should be enough strength there ??
Am I correct
Thanks for any input
Cheers watho

Greetings Watho,

The aluminum collar (sleeve) goes inside the main-frame end of the tailboom tube to help the tube resist crushing.

See page 11 of the Lynx Ultra Main Frame manual available on their website for more details.

You can view or download it directly from the Lynx website HERE.

Have a great day!

Hi guys
I'm using the lynx extension boom on the 450x with the standard tail boom section
With collar supplied I find you can't use it as there is the lug in the tail section and I'm not sure if you could slide it in from behind

Has anybody used this collar with standard tail for the 450x ??
And if so how

Thanks for any replys

Watho

AFAIK you don't use the collar on the standard frame. The lug does the job of the collar. The collar is for the Lynx frame (or any frame that doesn't have the lug.

FWIW, I took the idea of the collar and used some old aluminium boom and made an internal sleeve about 3cm long which I place inside the boom to site it where the boom exits the block. That seems to strengthen the boom and reduces the chance of a bend as it comes out of the block.

Thanks Paolo
That sounds like a great idea for added strength

I looked and looked and there was no way I could get that collar in the boomso I went without and had a test hover the other day

Total different feeling with the extended boom and blades

The only thing I'm dealing with is a slight tail wag but I think a slightly higher head speed should fix that

Thanks all for chiming in

Cheers watho
