Default Jive 120HV does not initialize each time connection to 12s

Sometimes when connected to 12s the esc does not initialize.
Error was 2 blinks which meant over current disconnection.
I work around it by connecting to 6s first, it initialize.
Then I disconnect and connect it to 12s which initializes it.
I am uncomfortable flying it like that.
What do you guys think?

Should I add a spark arrestor in the circuit.
Do you think it is the spark that confuses the esc?

What motor are you using with it? That doesn't sound right.

When you say reposition what did you do? Did you swap around the cables?
