Question What most powerful motor for Trex 700E?

Hi guys,

I have Trex 700E DFC....I use it all stock. Have some pinion that I can use to improve power?

What most powerful motor you suggest to me?

There are a few powerhouses but KDE 700XF is one. Better have a 160A ESC though.

The big scorpion and the 850mx are about the same in power

Scorpion 4540 Ultimate with 1.5 mm wire. Max amps haven't been announced, yet. This motor could be too strong for the Align design, though. I run a scorp 4535 with 1.7 mm wire.

btw - I also had a scorpion 5035 1.8 mm running in one of my 700s. This one got too hot and melted the main gear in about 3 minutes. Just not feasible for this design.

Just out of curiosity why run a motor that's so big it destroys your drive train? I'm all for a big motor but only one that's adapted harmoniously to the machine.

Unfortunately these forum posts are somewhat common...

Someone asks a brief question ("What is the most powerful motor"), but in actuality there is a lot more to their question. Hopefully the OP will elaborate so we can help more.

I think a drivetrain destroying option does fit the 'most powerful' qualification, which is exactly why there are more needs than 'most powerful' for most people.

Good question! So, my suggestion is the Sorpion 4530 LE. Works nice and has lots of power.

Also if you choose a scorpion or any other motor besides the 850mx you will need the $40-$50 KDE adjustable motor mount. Just a heads up

That isn't true 100% of the time. I'm running the 4530LE 540kv motor in my 700E DFC with stock motor mount and stock pinion. If you choose a motor within an acceptable KV range to utilize the stock pinion an adjustable motor mount isn't required. Example, stock 750mx is 530kv so 520, 530, 540, and 560kv all can utilize the stock pinion and motor mount and be within an accecptable range for headspeed and still be efficiently geared.

why? I run a scorpion 4525 ultimate, with the original motor mount. mine is on a 700E v2. but I can't figure out why it would be different for a DFC.

you'd only use the adjustable motor mount if you want to run a 13 tooth pinion.
