Cool torque tube installed

I installed the V3 torque tube on my SE. I did have to install the elevator servo on the outside of the frame. That did cause the servo to hit the fuselage. I removed two of the plywood pieces out of the stand off blocks and that lowered it enough for the servo to clear the fuselage.

I was woried about the flybar now having even less clearance but what the heck nothing ventured nothing gained... I took it out today and i wrang her out, high speed turns, vertical stall turns, etc. no problems at all. I figure if the fly bar was going to hit the fuselage it would have.

All in all I would say it was a good upgrade, I would have been sick if I had a belt break in mid flight. I did not see any difference in flight time though, Oh well this upgrade was for reliability only

Pics to come

Default Torque Tube

Here are some pictures. You can see the elevator servo is shoe horned in the fuselage, despite the removal of two sections of the ply stand off blocks.

Default Tail Rotor

Do you have to take the tail rotor apart everytime you take the heli out of the fuse?
I am building one now and have to take the tail rotor apart to get it in and out. It is a align fuse i am also having a problem getting the heli to set in there with the 9650 servo on the boom? i can't get it in there without it touching the side.
I am tweeking it now and trying to get it worked out. Thanks Jay

you have to take it apart every time on all the scale fuselages

you need to search this thread there you will find that you have to build a mount for the servo to hang vertical on the boom

First off, awesome forum!!! I'm just staring my md500 build using a 450 se v2 clone from kds, and a fuse from heliartist. Finally finished the paint after a TON of sanding and prep, but I think it turned out pretty good for my first paint job. Kinda pricey though, for the paint as I used automotive paint, but I think the effect was worth it here are some pics of the paint process for your veiwing pleasure!

In my Align fuse kit they provide screws to fasten the wood blocks to the trex frame. These screws are pretty soft and phillips style. Is anyone using a hex head and where did you find the size. I've looked everyplace for replacement and can't find them anyplace. Nice hard hex head cap screw..self tapping. The ones that are for the stock Trex450 skids are too short also. Drats

ok, so i'm on the home strech of my build and I've come to a bottle neck, almost literely. I've got everything done as far as moving and/or repositioning servo's, epoxying the risers, ect... My problem now is how do you install the mechanics and still maintain proper belt tension??? Do you dissassemble the tail assembly before placing inside fuse, or do you loosen the tube from the frame and re tighten once mechanichs are inside? disassembly of the tail rotor is easy, re-assembly is a different story with an already tense belt, especially the tensioner! Is there a way to do this without going nuts??

Can you not just remove the tail rotor then re-instal after you put in into the fuse. Darn good point now that I realy look at it. This should be interesting.

problem is I have removed the tail rotor without dissasembling the tail assembly, wich would work except for the tail rotor shaft stickin out.
