I'll find out this weekend for sure unless it's pouring rain which is very likely. Might be able to catch a break in between showers though.

I did get a minute tonight to check the volts/rpm screen and the rpm light does toggle when I spin the head backwards so that's a good sign.

Same here - can't test this on the bench w/o blades

My governor issues were an incompatibility between the soft start on my ESC and the SK720 governor.

Just a quick update on my governor issue, or what I thought was an issue.
I still haven't maidened this thing since I put it on. Work, weather, etc has been getting in the way.
My wife gave me an early Christmas present which is a DX8 so I went through and did a fresh setup with DSMX sats. Afterwards I decided to try the governor on the bench again and again it didn't work without any blades. So what I did was change my Norm TC from 00-25-40-40-40- to 00-37-40-40-40 and I put the tail blades on. Now it works as expected even without main blades.

Not sure if it was changing the TC or adding the tail blades that did it but don't really care. Main blades are now installed and it's ready to go. Taking it to work tomorrow and going to at least do a maiden hover at lunch unless it's pouring rain. No room to cut loose and fly but plenty of room to at least hover it around and do some pitch pumps. I will also get my buddy at work to tach it for me. Will report back on how it goes.

Ok I finally got to fly it! Granted it was basically just hovering with a few flips and pitch pumps but I was in the parking lot at work and there wasn't much room.

The survey says.........I like it!

Keep in mind I haven't flown this 6HV since the end of August and since October i haven't flown anything but the sim so needless to say my heart rate was up. Sure felt good though. It was all uneventful as expected. Couple of times I had some good sustained hands off hover and then it would all of a sudden get a good drift to the right/rear. Not worried about that yet.

The governor worked great though I suppose I need to lower my gov gain. I set it to 35 last night and it worked well today in Norm and IU1 (1800 - 1900) but in IU2 (2000) it started chattering and getting a little tail shake. At first I thought it was a vibe until I remembered it could be the gov gain. So I'll lower it to like 25 the next time I get out and try it.
Tail held great. Piros were nice with nice stops and didn't get any movement during pitch pumps. Granted like I said, my heart was pumping pretty good so once I get back in the groove I'll be better equiped to notice the more subtle things. Plus this was my first flight with the new DX8 so that felt different too.

Only had two small issues. First was on spool-up I got a bad wobble until it ramped up. I know this has been a Compass issue for some but it's never happened to me. But this is the first time I've ever spooled up on concrete so that may have been it too.

Other issue was my fault. Last night when going over final checks I set my TH pitch curve to 00-50-50-50-100 so I would be sure I was at midstick when checking zero pitch. When I landed my first flight I hovered about 5ft off the ground and hit TH to do my mini-auto. Guess you can imagine how that went. I'm just glad I wasn't any lower when it went from hovering pitch to 0* pitch. Somehow I pulled off the landing without damaging anything. If you're ever bored I suggest you give it a try. It certainly makes the adrenalin flow.

So all in all I'm thrilled. Looks like all I need now is a few fine tuning flights and it will be awesome. Can't wait to be able to get it to a field where I can let it rip.
