Default Please Read If You Have a Pyro 800/850 (In the USA)

For the few fellow Banshee owners in the US. Here's something you should read if you have a Pyro 800/850:

After the motors are inspected, the motors as a group will be returned to the US, and they will then be shipped out individually to each owner.

If you would like to have your PYRO 800 inspected, please ship to the following address:

KONTRONIK USA
2288 Gunbarrel Road
Suite 154-382
Chattanooga, TN 37421

Please include your purchase receipt, full name, and return shipping address inside your package. Please ship your motor via a trackable insured method. Your motor must be received by December 21, as the group of motors will then be sent to German for inspection. We hope this date will give you time to send your motor in, but not stretch the delay too long for those of you eager to fly. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at charles.anderson@kontronik.com

Sincerely,

Charles Anderson

I didn't find anywhere the actual problem. I don't know if it is a translation issue but how can they start a notice saying "Although the sample size of motors with this potential magnet issue is quite small" when they haven't even described the issue?????!!!

Something like "we have found X problem in X product that can cause X issue." And the "Although......". That would have been clearer, right?

Knowing your sense of humour Marcos I am sure you could come up with something based on der magnetoshticks gehen flugen in der rotorren kannen mit Kontrostrophic consequenten.

Yeah, they should have explained the problem, because not everyone read their first service bulletin:

=====

From Google Translate:
Loose magnets at PYRO 800/850
Unfortunately, there are a few PYRO800/850 engines which was the automatic bonding process may be too little adhesive filled. In the PYRO 850 engines may be involved only engines who lasered a helicopter in the PYRO 800 motors can the series do not differ visually. If you are unsure you can send your engine happy to free check to us. We appreciate your understanding.

=====

And that first service bulletin has now been replaced with this:

=====
KONTRONIK has become aware of the possibility of insufficient magnet glue in a small number of PYRO 800/850s. The PYRO 850 must have a heli on the bottom the PYRO 800 is not to identify.
If you have concern and would like your motor examined, please feel free to return the motor to us for a through examination. We would like to thank your for your continued support
=====

I think what they're saying is that a small number of motors in the Pyro 800 and Pyro 850 Heli Version line may have insufficient magnet adhesive, and the Pyro 850 Airplane Version (the line that doesn't have a helicopter illustration etched on it) does NOT have any issues with the magnet adhesive.

Also, shouldn't they have said that the Pyro 850 Heli Version should have a helicopter illustration on the top, not the bottom (where you fasten the motor to the mount). Maybe they're thinking bottom because like in most airplanes, the prop is up front and they consider the side opposite the shaft as "the bottom".

Did I get that right?

Of course, my 850 has a heli etched on it.

Marcos, I don't know if I ever mentioned this to you, but (and I'm assuming that English is NOT your native language) your English writing is MUCH better than a LOT of native English speakers' writing here!!!

Now, my assumption (that English isn't your native language) could be wrong; you could have been born and raised in the US or UK -- and you've only lived in Argentina for a few years. If my assumption wrong, I deserve a ...

I am born and bred in Argentina, my native language is Spanish. I studied English since I was 5 years old until I finished school at 18. I studied half the academic day in English, learning geography, history, even math in English. I did Cambridge's First Certificate exam, Ordinary Level (with 1st Class Honors) and Subsidiary Level, all with the highest grades. Since school I've read more books in English than Spanish. I've been to the US some 30 times. That's why I write and speak pretty well. I am well spoken in Spanish as well, maybe that's why I learnt English and use it with a high level of proficiency.

I missed this announcement by one day and sent my motors back on 12/10. Got FedEx notification this a.m. they're on the way back and should be here on the 23rd. Not too long of a wait. I had sent a YGE esc to Mikado for an upgrade on 11/20 and they just got it this past Monday. That was almost 2 months just to get there.
