Default What Radio to use with Heli-x

Hi... I do not want to purchase a high end radio.. spectrum, futaba..etc....

I was looking at HK lower cost units... under $60

I guess 6 channel would be a necessity...

Will any of those unit in HK work... and which cable to purchase to make it work with this software.

Thanks

For me the question didn't make sense. I want to fly the simulator with the same transmitter I fly my helis with. I did take my old dx6i transmitter to work to use on the Sim there at lunchtime. However I much prefer to use the Taranis when I can. Since the orange radio is pretty much a copy of the spectrum I would expect it to work the same.

Good luck.

thanks for the response.

I don't want to invest in a high end radio because I am not sure I am capable of using a radio... I have issues physically with my hands... if I can not work the simulator with somekind of ease it is no use for me to invest $$$$ in this hobby.

On the Heli-X support page, they mention this $17 HobbyKing TX as being compatible.

Get a dx6i or even dx5e.

What TX do you fly with? You want something that "feels" like what you fly with.

If you want cheap and cheerful, a HK Turingy 9XR can do the job for round US$50 plus postage (you need to add a module if you want to fly it with aircraft, but for a sim, no module required). Or you can go the afore-mentioned DX6i (second hand should be US$50 mark if you are lucky).

An even cheaper option might be to visit a local hobby shop (if you've got any) and handle a few radios. Here in DFW most shops (several HobbyTown franchises, and a couple of total independents) not only have the radios, but also Real Flight running on a store PC with a transmitter for customers to play with / try out. My daughter cheerfully crashed a virtual (thank god) Gaui X7 over and over again a few weeks ago when I was at Roy's Hobby Shop in Hurst.

If you need an extended audition to make sure your hands are physically up for it then you'll have to buy one of the aforementioned Tx's, but a good 15 minutes in front of the sim at a shop with a real radio hooked up might also lean you one way or the other with nothing invested.
