Mine used to hydrolock all the time. Since I cleaned the reg out and started leaning the engine it has begun to make heat. I've changed nothing.
PS: You don't have to buy new. I didn't.

Of course. I would seek a clean used one too, but many have bought from US shops and paid $200 more for their purchase, so it doesn't make a good bargain IMO. I'd order a new plant from RCJ before buying one of these...unless there are extenuating circumstances.

I emailed Hobby Services about this last week and they sent me a new needle valve seat. I received it yesterday and it definitely has a smaller orifice than the one that was in mine, originally. I installed it last night but I'm not sure when I'll get to try it.

So, after duckmansweb's post, it seems he'd found a pretty ideal solution, and it's inexpensive too. No one else has commented.

I just got my new needle valve seat in the mail today, hopefully I'll have time tomorrow afternoon to check it out... As Rodney mentioned, very noticeable difference in diameter when trying to insert a 1.5 hex!

My understanding is it is the same part number that is out of stock until the end of the year at Tower. It came in a baggy with a number hand written on it "6571414". The invoice had the Item number as HS99999...

So, I flew it for about 8 flights today with the new needle valve seat, took needles back to break-in settings and started turning in. it started getting warm on the back plate a lot sooner than the old needle seat! Ended up at around .75 on the mid, 1.00 on the high, and left the idle at factory (tried turning it in 5 degrees leaner as the manual stated, but didn't like the sound as much). I am at sea level (Houston, TX) and it was mid 80's for ambient temperature. It still feels rich, I could hold my finger on the backplate for more than 10 seconds, but I stopped there (waiting until I get some guys around that are expert nitro tuners) as the heli started to dance around a little when not loaded. I need to check the V-bar logs to see if the governor is acting up or just high vibrations.

Hey guys, I tried tuning my 105HZ engine today, and with the main needle turned all the way in, the engine still runs VERY rich. Does anyone know where to order the correct needle valve holder for this engine, I saw another post with part # 91PS 21981941, is this correct and where do you get it? Thanks.

OK, I'll send them an email about this issue and let you know how it goes. I'm not patient with this stuff, and wondering if it is possible to just buy a new carb for the OS105HZ to mount, does anyone know who might sell a complete carb, or what the part # for the correct complete carb is? Thanks.

I down converted mine to a HZ, bought the carb and backplate from RC Japan: https://rcjapan.net/o-s-engine-c-80?...bof9glcmd2r701.
Did the same for my 55HZ-R. Part bumbers are in the manual, just google and download it. Never looked back, gone are all the PITA regulator quirks, its almost like flying electric now! I will never buy another engine OS with the regulator, also the lack of customer support with OS is outrageous, do not know if its a language or culture thing but they do come across as very arrogant and unhelpful.

From BAX at OS/Hobby Services:
To our fellow Modelers: The OS 105HZ-R was designed for maximum performance but with many of the lower nitro fuels that are available now we have found that it is possible for the engine to run too rich. If you have a problem with this then please contact Hobby Services for a new Needle Seat which solves the problem. Bill Baxter, Manager Hobby Services/Futaba Service/North America 3002 N. Apollo Dr. Ste. 1 Champaign, IL 61822 USA Service Phone: 217 398-0007 Email: hobbyservices@hobbico.com I called them on the phone and explained to the first person I talked to and within a week I received the new needle seat free of charge. Those that are still having issues can call them and they'll hook you up with the new correct needle seat. |

I also contacted Hobbico and they could not tell me anything about a revised main needle seat. My 91HZR runs rich with the main fully closed so i wanted this new one to
solve the issue. I use the regular seat from 91HZ and i am able to run it like it should.
