These units are still worthless if the SL won't work on a nitro.

That's a question that's not been asked; will the hard deck work if there are excessive vibes?

=] excessive vibrations will destroy the gps' ability to perform as intended, a 720 red light high vibration cut-off applies to the gps also.....

So they have both a GPS and IMU in the same package. nice.
That is the definition of the term IMU? I don’t think I have heard Skookum use that term before?

So the likelihood of this working on a nitro is minimal then?

You could get something like a 600 size EP with GPS for practice until you get your 3D perfected. Then you could fly then on your nitro copter. That would be the safest way to learn 3D for nitro flyers.

I don't particularly want to learn too much 3D, that's not what this is about, it's about not thumping a few grands worth of heli into the ground. Which can happen to anyone.
I also don't really want another E heli. They do nothing for me (in the larger sizes at least).
I'd be more than happy to throw a fair few hundred bucks at the unit(s), but if they are as flakey as the original unit and won't work with vibes/on a nitro, then it's a pointless investment and I'm not going to buy one just on the off chance that it might work.
This really saddens me because Skookum have an amazing product.
On paper.
It's a pity that that doesn't translate to the real world.

In case you haven't seen it yet: the SK-GPS is officially listed for 599,- EUR.

=] the gps isn't vibe sensitive, it's using the 720 accelerometers as one of the systems in play, if the 720 has shut down because of excessive vibes the gps is then disabled also.

That 599 has to be for GPS and a 720?

=] not to get into a vibe war, but a heli that shakes at 10G (some nitro's are more than double this) which will trip the auto-error-cut-off, isn't something I would want as an acceptable environment for any electronics?

Yet this is an environment that exists on some of our helis and our electronics and hardware should be designed and built to withstand this.
As an aside, is there a way of converting Vbar vibes so I have an idea if it'll work on my heli or not?

=] I can't remember the v-bar values they use? the SK uses accelerations.

The only way to do this with accellerometer type axis measurments is to dumb down the measuring ability by using substandard or numb accellerometers. When you do this you loose the ability to micro measure axis movements that enable the gyro to genuinely or precisely control your heli. Dumb or numb this down, and it is much like your mouth after a trip to the dentist and several shots of novicain. Doesn't work too well, does it?
