Default Just got a p-51 and a corvalis 350

Been flyin helis for a few months and I figured I'd try some planes so I picked up a P-51 (40" ws) and a corvalis 350 (57" ws). I flew them both very well after a few nose dives that is! Lol. Anyway. I was hoping you guys could give me some tips/tricks. The p-51 rolls real slow. Why? WgT adjustments do I have to make to make it fast like my 450x. Any other info would be very appreciated!!

Fly it like you stole it!!

every plane flies different. That is one of the cool aspects of planks is that depending on the plank it can have very different flight characteristics.

Warbirds, like your p-51, in general have much slower roll rates. You can increase the throws in your ailerons to get them a little faster. But they are still going to be slow and not tight axially. The way the wings are shaped and the overall design of the plane contributes to the overall flight characteristics.

Buying more sport/3D planes will get you tighter and faster roll rates. One of the first things you will notice with these types of planes is how much bigger the control surfaces are. Ailerons will be much larger and have much more throws. Resulting in much faster roll and loop rates.

Don't go too crazy on Aileron travel on an airplane. Too much can cause adverse yaw issues and that could lead to a spin and crash. If your radio will support it (Most radios will) dial in some aileron differential. (More travel up than down) That will help with the adverse yaw problem.

Here's a good article on it: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blo...-to-set-it-up/

Be careful with too much elevator throw as well. Too much and it'll be very touchy in pitch. Dial in some dual rate so if your full rate is too high and it's hard to control in pitch, you can flick the switch and get it to settle down.

That's a good read! That's how I set up my Cessna.
