Would a 7.4v batt be good or would something around the lines of a 11.1v be best? If i dont have a bec, i dont want to blow out the servos because of to high of voltage. My HW120hv doesnt have a built in bec, so i thought i would need one.

The servos are rated for straight 2 cell lipo power. Don't want to use a three cell without a BEC. A 2s lipo at full charge is 8.4 V. Trust me they can handle it.

Cool beans, I'll just use a step down for my tail. Still in the process of buying all the parts, while still in the process of reading this thread. Very good thread.

the savox version of the DS650,
Savox SH-1290 MG Funny thing is, i bought a set of DS610's a couple of days ago, before i found the Savox's on ebay. Now i gotta buy the Savox's and then sell the DS610's. Because the comparison is night and day. They arent even close.

Hi.
I'm just about to try a sb-2271sg and sb-2272mg combo on my gaui x7 It has the gryphon quasar bec on. And run ln the 12s packs But now i see this thread, and is a bit worried. -i know the servo is all good, but will it be a problem with my quasar bec? - can it handle the amps the servos are pulling? Best regards |

We had confirmed brown outs on even the Quasar. These servos are nasty fast, but have a stupid fast ramp up. I run them on my Goblin and E7 with confidence, but I always just run a straight RX pack.
If you want an equally great servo that is proven NOT to draw more than a BEC can handle, the Outrage Torq servos are great. And are only a few bucks more.

Okay, thanks..
Hmm, the servos are already in house, so its to late to change. But i will se how it goes in the table, and if the quasar fails when i go insane on the sticks, i will go for 2s lipo straight. Does that sound stupid to you? |

You could go for a Scorpion backup guard in parallel with the BEC as safety.

That sounds like a good idea.
Its just pluged into the reciver? Does it charge itself in flight? Og shall it been charged like a normal batterey? Edit, i just saw your video. And it answer all my questions |

I also have had great luck with these.
http://www.fromeco.org/news/releases...ark.ii.cricket Basically just a buffer. Plug into an open port on the FBL and it can handle those large spikes.

The DCUP has been proven to work in theory and practice. I've had it on my o-scope on this same application and can verify that takes the amp spikes these servos draw and smooths everything right out. It's also nice that it shows you the min voltage.
Nobody has tried the scorpion backup, but after looking at the specs I don't think it's the right product for this application. It's basically a little lipo battery with a 5v/10amp regulator built in. So it's not going to kick in until things drop below 5v and it's another battery to charge and maintain. So basically when things drop below 5v you have one switching regulator ringing and another picking up the load. If you just want a buffer pack I would set the regulator to 7.6v and plug in a straight 2s lipo. That will keep the battery at 60% charge using constant voltage so it should last and provide for a good buffer. schu |

Interesting read guys... Just want to ask, from your experience and knowledge, sounds like there is "no" issue running the Fromeco DC-UP with the Vbars or the Kontronic Jives..???
Thanks... Mark R
