my first flight on my Trex 450 in 5 year before I move to my trex 500.
Any suggestions? I have my old Jr Xp9303 and don't want to replace everything yet, I just have to many receivers for it. I'm concerned about the pitch and swach setup.
Should I buy 2.4ghz before I finish the 500? What batteries is everyone using now? I have a align 6 S but is was stored at 3.85. |

I assume your pack question is for an existing 500? 5 years is a long time for any pack, so most likely you will want some new ones. Just look for similar capacity and cell count--there are a lot out there now. At least storing the old one at 3.85V/cell was a good idea, but I just have no clue what shape it is actually in. Probably ok for some however tests to see how it behaves.
Eventually you will want to move to a 2.4GHz system. I see nothing wrong with your old stuff, but keep in mind that old equipment can go out of specs--it depends. |

Some AMA fields have a 72 mHz ban!
There's lot's of pack choices: Turnigy Blue - budget. Gens Ace, Glacier, and Pulse are popular good quality packs.

Which "500" are you going with?
Check the main blade size. If you are going with a 425mm Blade, you can use a 2650mAh battery from HobbyKing. I use those and get 8 minutes of hovering, orientation practice, and mild FF (I'm still a newbie) If you are going for a "true" 500 (one that swings 500mm blades) then you will have to go with batteries somewhere between 3300-4500mAh (or higher). Those you can also get from HobbyKing, but the price goes up (of course). I would get a new transmitter. The new gen ones are light years ahead of the 72mHz stuff I grew up with. |
