That's a good idea, thanks!

I'm hoping to get a 808 #16 for Christmas This is exactly the info I needed for camera mounting. Thanks!

Just got my mQX yesterday. In the past, I've always used velcro to mount keychain cameras. So I did the same with the mQX.

The camera is an 808 #11 Key Ring Spy Camera 720p HD (http://www.chucklohr.com/808/C11/).

The camera plus the velcro weighs 17.3g (0.61oz). The mQX has no problem lifting and maneuvering with it.

No part of the heli shows in the videos I've taken with this mount. It also seems to be relatively vibration free.

Here are some pics of the setup followed by a 10 second video clip.

To see my mQX with camera, landed on water: https://ibm.biz/BdxyVJ

Wouldn't taking the camera out of the shell and perm mounting it under remove a lot of the extra weight the camera case comes with?

I have mine on order and that's my plan.

I'm a little late to the party - I just got my mQX a few days ago. I also purchased an 808 #16 a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday, I ordered the MIA TUFF LG Camera Mount Kit. I watched several MIA videos on YouTube and it looks like a good solution versus me trying to design something from scratch. l'll definitely report back once I receive it and get it mounted and working.

Though the mQX can easily lift my keychain cam in its case---since I use a lightweight mounting method, it's true that removing the case would eliminate a significant amount of additional weight.

Leaving the case on works for me because I only occasionally use the mQX with a cam attached (and want to be able to use the cam intact elsewhere). The rest of the time, I don't want the mQX burdened---by either cam or mount---when I'm just flyin' to be flyin'

Though I'm really into keeping the weight down when adding mQX attachments (see pontoons https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...&postcount=250), perhaps the additional mass of the case adds stability to the mQX (just a random thought).

I wanted to add my comments to this thread since I've also purchased the 808 keychain camera.

I mounted mine on top of the stock canopy. I used the doublesided velcro that ships with the E-Flite batteries. I also put a rubber band around the whole canopy/camera combination so it wouldn't shake.

The biggest problem I've had is with the camera. Obviously, for $6.50 shipped one has to temper your expectations. You get what you pay for. The problem I've had is that sometimes shuts itself off while recording.

But my mQX has had NO problem lifting the camera and I have had no stability problems at all. I'm using the standard radio with the tame settings. It's been breezy at my house since the camera showed up but I've managed to get video a few hundred feet up in the air that gives me a nice bird's eye view.

I have found that a camera on the bottom make the mQX really unstable. But on top you see the propellers, especially with the wide angle lens. I really want a bottom mounted camera, angled down at the ground. My latest effort involves new canopies made by heat forming plastic rectangles for the top and bottom. The battery is moved to the top to raise the center of gravity. The camera is mounted to the bottom on a balsa wedge.

Good idea, relocating the battery on top.
Do you fly with black props on the front?

Yeah, I don't care where I'm going, I like to see me behind the copter looking up at it. Maybe I'm vain. But it shows the scale of altitude well.

Default How do you mount you 808 keyfob cam ?

I had the MIA camera flight kit and the pieces to attach to frame were very fragile. It lasted a good week then a crash sent it flying off...it didn't help with the jello in the camera either so I dumped it. Too much added weight. Can't do loops or rolls either...unless you like Mother Earth that much.

This is what I use today...
Went caseless and put a bit of Velcro behind the camera to get a good angle and remove a lil jello

Why did you re-route the motor wires outside the booms?

This is my set up.
Align PU Gel under the camera to eliminate Jello.

I guess you mean polyurethane? I bought some sorbothane for that purpose, but the stuff is so dense and heavy I decided not to use it. Is that what you're using?

K10457A Align PU Adhesive GelI. It is some strange stuff, but it sure eats up vibrations.
