Default Tight tail gear

Outrage has announced 90N in China on Sept., we are all welcome this new designed heli. However, it does make us disappointed due to tight tail gear, seem it is due to the tolarence of plastic gear. Let find the attached video. The tail is so tight that we are afraid problem would be happened during in air

Just remove the shim from tail shaft. It is on the flat side of the bevel gear "B"
I've made the same mistake...

I removed the shim in mine, but then had a bit of play on the tail shaft. Can someone confirm whether this shim must be used or not?

YES, the shim should be used, if not the tail output shaft will allow the gear to pull away from the drive gear and you could get a slight pulsing from the mesh moving in and out. Our gears were a bit chunky and noisy and after a couple of flights they bed in nice and have been fine.

Hm, looks like that there are many tolerances on that bevel gears...
I have to use a lot of force to turn the bevel gear if i put the shim in.

Tone,

Both of Steven's prototype machines had the shim, also the complete output shaft spare with the bevel gear installed had the shims, basically just get the tolerance so there in no play between the gears if it is too tight remove the shim, if the shim is removed you need to verify it doesn't introduce excessive amounts of play, I have a bunch of various size shims I've acquired over the years for different applications mostly for 3mm shafts but same principal, simply add or remove until you get the desired tolerance, on my 2 Vel 90's they were spot on with the shim installed, the gears were a bit snug and Steven had them bed in after one hard 3D flight
