Not likely. The prototype had metal grips, because those are easy to machine and refine the shape prior to making molds.

There's no need for metal grips on the Protos, it's perfect as it is.

3000rpm is fine with 350 blades, my IU2 is set there but I don't really have the skill to use it. IU1 is at 2800rpm and I had one of the 3d experts fly and he didn't need any more headspeed for normal 3D flying. The IRCHA video is another level though. ;-)

Just about to pull the trigger on a mini and am doing some reading. Is the 15 pinion being used on the stock 3s motor and does that pinion come with the mini kit?.I'm no 3D flyer but looking for good stability. Thanks for a great thread

The 16T pinion comes with the kit, which is good for sport and 3D (HS from 2600 to 3100+).

My tail slider feels very notchy. Everything feels very smoothly until I put everything together. The 2 screws looks very straight and touches the spacer at the same time.

Could it be that the tail shaft is slightly bent?

My experience has been that it is normally the screws, I think I mentioned in the build that I found I had to twist the arms to match the slider, not just set the screws up straight against the spacer.

Try backing off the 2 screws a little and if that makes it better it probably means you just need to play with the angles a little to get it smooth.

Great thread Dennis. I finally got one but I will be running the stock 3s setup for now and maybe go 6s down the track.

Just thought I would bump my build thread with several people doing builds at the moment, might help them if they haven't see it. Go back to the first post to for plenty of pictures and tips on the build.

A quick pic of the mini in its new home.

You are very welcome, hope the weather has picked up a bit over there now. I spent 5 weeks in Sweden in June and July and we didn't have it that nice, but I did get a lot of flights on my mini P anyway.

We have had pretty nice weather here in Finland most of the summer. I have some 300-400 flights since mid May.
Now with MiniP with Mini V-BAR the flight amount should escalate futher.

I was there before Midsommar and had about half the time in Stockholm, 1 week in Lindesberg and a week near Umea where we had the best weather. Met up with the guys at VMF for a fly one day but the rest of the flying was in fields near where I was staying with family, my Wife is Swedish (and half Finnish).

I only got about 50 flights in but that is the most I have ever been able to fly in a month since I started with Heli's a few years ago. I had much better weather when in the North of Sweden, where in Finland are you?

I did fly with heli (coax) first time late November 2011. Did fly thru the winther having some issues with LiPo's loosing power and fingers loosing mobility on sub zero temps - especially while flying with my T600N

I'm near Helsinki, on the way to Turku. We fly at Nummela airfield (www.nlk.fi ) thruout the year.

Im about 90% in completing my build on my very 1st FBL bird (I had a 450 pro and blade 450 3D...still at hovering and some FF stage). Im gonna slap it with a BeastX gyro. In its ALL STOCKs setup....what TT curve would you suggest for starters?...

I would start with 60-70% on the governor for the first few shakout flights, then see where you want to go from there. If you have the programing card then setup Governor Store mode as it keeps the headspeed consistent from pack to pack.
