From all the X3 videos I have seen, I have yet to see one exhibit the raw power of the 450L. Do those that own the X3 feel like it is super powerful? It looks graceful, but the 450L looks like it shreds the sky.

I only have some shake down flying on my X3, but no matter because I can't "shred the sky" so even if my x3 could, I wouldn't... LOL

I think it is important to remember that the X3 is a true Kit, you get all the bits in bags, and have to choose your equipment/electronics...

We were debating this today, if a guy wanted to run the 3GX unit on the Gaui, he could be in the air for under 500.00

Kit 200
HK order.. NTM1700/YEP/4X TGY306G HVs/2x 1300 NT 6S... 200
3GX off here or ebay 50.00
350 blades 40.00

Mine seems like it will be pretty powerful once I get it all tuned out, I have not pushed up the HS yet, that flight we got her up to 3180 I think it was.

Nice smooth flying and looks great. I enjoy watching your videos.

Are you using a vbar in the x3?

Or you could use align 360 blades for 25 bucks? Even cheaper? I am really eyeing the x3. I am also going to convert one of my pros to a 450l as well. Both should be great. As for the gaui not being to rip up the sky:
GAUI X3 6s 4000+rpm Flight 2 Asaf Aloush-Ircha 2013 (3 min 3 sec)
The pilot says in one of the video's comments that it is a 2221-2010.

Thanks, I wish it was better quality but it's a cell phone video and one of the old timers wanted to shoot the cheit while we were filming

Yes this is an older Mini Blue that is still running 5.2 Pro but it works well... I stole it out of my 6S Trex 450Pro
Yfbb:

Yeah I know the Aligns will be a great value, it's just I can't find them in stock? I like the Rotor techs, and I found a good deal on them at 28.00 but they sold out quick, and really they don't match... I have a line on some of the older style Radix 350s but I hear they are heavy?

I would say that video show a guy flying at 4000 that can use it! So if you set them up, the X3 can easily perform with the 450L... f you put them side by side with the same gear, I am sure they would perform very close. I think it is nice to have the larger shafts, and bigger boom, the TT is larger too.

The gaui has a third bearing below the gear. 450l does not.
Gaui uses beafier main and feathering shaft with larger bolts. It will be able to handle more power than the 450l.
Gaui has larger diameter boom, should be stiffer.
Gaui comed barebones so you can build a beast to your liking or build on a cheaper than 450l budget heli and upgrade later.
Gaui has lower gearing options with 9t pinion and 131 main. Lower gearing helps battery life and torque on larger bladed machines and works a lot better for low headspeed fliers.
A longer boom and tt and the gaui could be stretched to an ultra light 500. The 450l is already a stretched 450 and may be difficult to stretch farther.

The 450l doesnt seem that different from the tarot and devil 480's with a new servo layout and top mounted motor.

I have my own twist on this. Rather than replacing my 450 Pro with one of these two, I bought a used Gaui X5 tonight

My first foray into bigger-heli territory. It's a lot bigger than my 450. I'm excited, though it will be a little while before I get packs and stuff to fly it. Now I have allegiances to both sides, I guess.

Did you get the one off ebay listed here?

so far those who have tried it say its not as powerful as 450L

but this will change in time with new scorpion 2520 motors coming out.

450L - most people are running super high headspeeds 3800+ that along with powerful motor means you got a rocket.

seriously best headspeed for 360mm blades is 3100 to 3400 if you want to 3d or fly hard, anything higher will result in a waste of flight time. 2900 to 3000 headspeed is perfect for all round flying

Thanks No, it's no the eBay one, though I thought about that one. Seems surprising no one has snapped that one up yet.

This one happened to actually be near me, though I found it on the classifieds here. Went over and saw it in person, the owner flew it briefly to demonstrate (ahem, I may have backed up when it spooled up ). It looks to be in perfect condition, he said it has very few flights (if it has more, or had any damage, then he did a good job repairing it).

I'd been leaning towards a Protos 500, but realized this isn't much more expensive to build (especially with a good used deal). But it's significantly bigger, and people seem to love them. I can't wait to try it.

I'm sorry, didn't mean to steer this OT. I know a fair bit about the 450L, but am curious to see how the X3 is received. I don't forsee replacing my Pro anytime soon, though. I do like the fact that the X3 can apparently be bought barebones. Many people already have good 450 electronics.

I think I am leaning more towards the 450L as soon as it is available non combo, but the price is still going to be a factor. I to almost pulled the trigger on the X3 for under $200. Truth is I really don't need another helicopter lol! I wish they would stop teasing me with new models. Right now I have stopped at 10 lol!

The scorpion 2520 motors are beasts. Im sure I saw Scorpiion will release two other 2520 motors for the x3 soon. One will be for 3s 3500kv and another for 6s 1490kv. These will be the motors to get and im sure will match the dominator motors from align for the 450L

I got word from Scorpion yesterday these motors are in production.
Once the 3500 is released my X3 will be ordered up.

And where are we going to get 4mm pinions?

I have that motor in my 450. It's much stronger than the regular MX450. So much so that I have to get a new tail servo now because this one can't keep up with the power when you punch it.

Good to hear it's strong. How are you finding the flight time with that 1300mah battery?

Well I am still using 325 blades, but with the governor set to 90% I am getting 5 and a half minutes. Everything does come down nice and cool.
