Default KDE 600 XF-1175 motor choice

I'm thinking of making the leap to a Logo 500SE from 450 size newbie training & considering this motor for 6S pack: KDE 600 XF-1175. Any comments or experience? Is there a specific adapter/mounting plate PN required? What about pinion gear?

Seems like a powerful motor. IT has a 6mm shaft so you should check if the correct pinion is available.

Default counter bearing

Also.. do most Logo500 guys run these counterbearings, or is it more for hard duty flying?

The Logo 500 main gear is Mod 0.7 so you need a Mod 0.7 pinion with a 6mm ID. These are available but you need to work out how many teeth you need, depending on the head speed you need. Have a play with Mr Mel's headspeed calculator.

I use the counterbearing on all my Logos. It takes the stress off the motor bearings.

OK thanks. I punched specs into the headspeed calculator: 153 tooth main gear, 1175 motor kv, 6S lipo, default battery condition, sport flying, 5-6 min flight time & left other default specs... against available pinion teeth number for 6mm shaft, both with/without Castle governer mode. Got these results. I've also been told to select 550m blades but that doesnt factor into this calc? Now what?

Based on your calcs I would start with the 16T pinion.
