'Back Pressure' in circuits
This is a quote from a previous thread about funnels and I have been trying to put this theory into action. My fingers know what to do in most situations but I'm not sure I can summarize into words. I want to have a mental reference more than just my fingers knowing. See below, please tell me if I'm way off base here.

What you are struggling with is a term I know as "flying the disc". Imagine (for a moment) there is no heli body, and the rotor is just a disc. To help you control it, there is a stick jutting up from the center of the rotor blade. To make the disc fly round a circle, the forces of lean, tilt and thrust need to be in balance. Assume thrust is sufficient, then the lean and tilt must keep the rotor going. What pressure do you need to keep on the stick to make it circle. Once you can imagine this, then imagine the heli body is back beneath the rotor.and the stick out the top of the rotor is your mode 2 cyclic control (right stick) the movements of the stick perfectly match the control inputs. Even when you turn the heli sideways or backwards, the moves for the stick are still the same. Once you really "get" this, your brain will do it automagically. Just takes lots of practice. With "flying the disc", you watch/imagine where the disc is an notice the tail. I say watch/imagine the disc as the rotor is often hard to see and it requires the brain to "fill in" the missing parts from information is has (from boom, skids, canopy, tail-fin, last known orientation, etc...) Hope this helps.
