I've got to say that it didn't seem that hard from the video but the ground obviously was hard dirt so it's hard to know. Usually though in a 'hard' crash you trash your boom, blade grips, links bend, main shaft/headblock goes etc etc so it seems like this frame issue (at this point where flex occurs and it obviously snapped) may be the heli's Achilles heel. This is a real shame IMHO.

That worries me as my 450's (old 3D's and now X's) seem incredibly tough...I've extensively tested out the tough theory TBH!
Yes inverted crash, but you're right, it was not a hard one

Agree with you, it's the positive side of this story: frame set+ blades+ shafts+bearings<60 USD
In a few days i will tell if repair is easy...

Might be worth buying the kit without electronics for £77.

I have added a stiffener/strengthener to the frame where yours broke and where Honkytown's has too much flex:

Unhappy Wow, I Couldn't Believe it!

I wasn't on HeliFreak much yesterday afternoon but I did have YouTube up (in between 300 X & 450 X flying) and I was very surprised by your video ducatimoto! I was hoping to see more of your flights and 3D style! Hopefully the Hobby Store in the UK can help you get up and running real soon!

Steve, I haven't checked on your Thread yet but will you be adding flying impressions with the addition of the CF brace?

I just have a very Good feeling that it's an Excellent thing to do. Since getting into this Hobby, I haven't seen any frame breaks occur in that general area, well, especially with the CF frames. When the 300 X is released in the U.S., I'm wondering if we'll see/read of more of this issue???

Oh, and I can affirm ducatimoto's claim that the 300 X handles REALLY well in the wind and even with my skill level at the transmitter. Wind was light but the gusts were pretty solid and came in waves...I didn't have my wind gauge with me though.

Well I can confirm that stiffener hasn't had any side-effects - still flies amazing.

I just tested in the wind with the my 4 year old daughter filming

Just a bit of epoxy resin.

Having it stiffer has got to be better for elevator tic-tocs. I can only tic-toc slow so far as I haven't had chance to practice them on my old helis - they weren't up to the job.

Ok...$13.29 isn't much but the four hours rebuilding it and replacing all the broken parts is.

Pulling a heli completely apart, replacing all the parts and re-setting it up is a PITA. It's a waste of time if it's a weak point.

I've crashed my 450's plenty of times and no frame issues. Thankfully. Removing all the servos, BX, ESC, regrinding the frame for the MKS's and doing a full setup isn't my idea of $13.29 well spent.

I'd pay alot more if the thing was actually tough.

I'm interested in how Steve's mod goes. It would be a crying shame if this great little heli was let down by a POS frame.

Agreed! Once this Heli is released to more locations we'll know for sure then. With the issue's occurring with the 130 X, I do hope BLADE/HH can investigate this.

The AR7200BX is a Very capable flybarless unit and on a Heli like the 300 X, it's Truly Amazing. I don't Ever remember feeling this comfortable flying a Heli in the first few flights and I know that part of it is my increasing skill level but a lot of it is just how connected I feel with the 300 X.

i agree with you
you fell very confident very quick with this heli but i wonder how it will be if we know that frame is really weak.
as for me i will be afraid to crash one more time, because of rebuilt (very tiny screws)
i didn't fly for more than a month after crashing my X5 (more than 300 flights with) so i was very happy to recover confidence with this little bird but now...
one more time sorry for my very poor english

No worries with your english, I can definitely understand where you are coming from. This Heli does have a way of boosting confidence real quickly and luckily I'm still taking it slow.

Smile 7 July 2012

Today has been a good day to fly (300 X, 450 X, mQX).

Scattered Clouds and Sunshine (79 F), with steady Winds between 1.3 knots (1.5mph, 2.4kph) to 2.4 knots (2.8mph, 4.4kph) with gusts up to 3.9 knots (4.5mph, 7.2kph) and my 300 X fly's the way I want her to fly...with my One Lipo, laughs.

Still tweaking my 450 X to behave as well as the 300 X...still tweaking.

I might seem crazy but I want to buy another one...

I also did some other photo's comparing two of my Walkera Microheli's; attached.

No surprise its a mini 450x it's going to break almost exactly the same stuff. 450x's break frames white often as well. Total PITA to change but they are cheap at least.

I wonder why this is. It's the EXACT same frame set as the 450 3D and that's known to be a pretty tough frame.

Nope - not even close - it looks similar to B400/450 but is actually quite different. Note the front servo linkage for instance.

Do you have the microbeast BeastX or AR7200BX on yours? What Gyro percentage are you running on your DX8, if you don't mind me asking?
Hi, yes it's an actual BeastX not the AR7200BX
My tail gain is 30-32 (DX8) with the ball on the servo 6.5mm out
Some pictures and details here

I'm concious not to divert your 300 thread, feel free to PM if you have any questions

Well, I've sort of joined the 300X club, a UK shop had 300X airframe only for £77 (SteveBaker mentioned it earlier)
I've got all of the other components and will be using a Tarot or CopterX FBL controller
It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get it all together
It won't be the real deal, but good for keeping in the car
