Default "C" clip tool

Has anyone found a good tool to remove this little "C" clip on the main shaft?

You need snap ring pliers.

Indeed. Check your local hardware store or automotive supply store. You are looking for a set of circlip pliers (external). I think it was only $10 here.

i agree, annoying to buy at first, so i tried doing it without, spent all of £4 from Maplins on some internal/external 90 degree ones, never regretted it! of course they got taken of me at the airport when i had them in my hand luggage by accident, but immediately got some new ones when i was back in the country!

Here is a good way to think about it. 20 years ago, I was bummed out I had to buy a pair for an associated RC car. 20 years later when I went to work on my logo, I was glad I had them still!!

I know this is an old thread and the Lowes link doesn't work anymore, but I'd like opinions on these:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...ctId=100348008

Are they big enough for this application? The description says they come with 5 interchangeable tips, but doesn't say what they are.

Ironically, your link doesn't work either...

I had a set that had interchangeable tips, but they were crap. You couldn't tighten the tips enough with the little phillips screw... (terrible design) they kept slipping when I tried to use them, and actually snapped one of the tips on a tight clip. I ordered the one linked previously from ReadyHeli, but haven't had the need to use them yet. Be warned that the pair I received was straight tipped, not the curved pair like they show in the pic.

S K Tools makes a nice, thin profile set that works on both internal and external circlips and snap rigs. To convert between the 2 modes you remoove the pivot bolt which has a knurled head so you it is easy to do with your fingers, turn one side over and re-install the thumb screw.

The first set(7638) is what I have. The 90° tip model will work great on the Logo but the straight one is slim enough to go betwwen the frames.

http://www.mytoolstore.com/sk/sk03192.html

Most cheap sets with interchangeable tips are bulky and cheesy. If your heli is the only thing you will use it on I dont guess it matters but for less than 20 bucks you can get a good set.

Mine are 36 years old..I know because I bought them when I bought my first Harley Davidson....at 18 years old....yeah, Im old but I like quality tools

I posted this in another thread this morning, but I'll report here to keep the discussion complete. Ace Hardware has a pretty good looking set. It has interchangeable tips at 0 and 90 degrees, but instead of a metal tip held in place by a set screw, it comes with entire heads that are interchangeable.

Your link for home Depot did not work. I purchased a channel lock brand from home depot for 20$. It works on internal and external clips and comes with various sizes and or straight and 90 degree tips. Its a well made tool.

Funny. It works for me every time. How about this link (I ripped some of the store and catalog info out of the URL):

I finally picked up the Ace one and I'm quite pleased with it. It's smaller than the Channellock and no tools are required to change the heads.

I picked up some Circlips pliers on ebay for les than 10$ shipped. Make sure you get the external circlips pliers that's the one you need for circlips that go around a shaft. If the circlip goes inside the shaft to lock it you need internal circlip pliers!

Here's where i got mine:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/7-Heavy-Duty-Exte...3%3A1|294%3A50

The only thing I had to do is file down the end just a tad to remove some metal flashing.
