Default Glow in the Dark Paints

I work in the field of Phosphorescent Pigments (aka "glow in the dark paint"). If you want to night fly with glow in the dark paint, you need to do a few things.

1. You will need a tube style black light so that you can charge your heli just before flight for about 5 minutes.

2. You need Grade 0 strontium aluminate paints. I would suggest Glow Inc.'s V10 water-based paint products. Lower grade products are probably not going to be bright enough.

Some resources
http://www.glowinc.com (Glow Inc site)
http://www.glowforum.com (Discussion Area)
http://www.glowforum.com/gallery/images.php (Gallery)

Unfortunately, I am not good enough to fly my T-Rex 450 at night yet. When I get to that point, I will post pics.

I wonder.... would the LED night-blades not be sufficient to keep this glowpaint charged while in flight? And adding to that the light from glowire.... I have a canopy I'm preparing to paint white and yellow and then I'll add glowire to it. Would it be worth using the white and yellow glowpaints they have listed under their solvent based glow paint section? Also they reference an "ultra" line of glowpaints that are supposed to be brighter, yet I can't find them listed anywhere on their site.

Anyways it's just a thought.... I already have all the glowire for this canopy, I'm just wondering if there'd be any advantage to also using glowpaint on the canopy and it's fins.

When I previously had this glowire on another white canopy of mine, it was bright enough that you could make out the white canopy from the light of the glowire alone... and that was just a white gel-coated fiberglass canopy. A canopy painted with white glowpaint and then traced out with blue glowire might show up even better at night.....

Unhappy No more 1/16 wide copper tape

I kind of had this info buried in an earlier post and though I would make it its own post.

I have noticed that it is getting harder to find places with the copper tape in stock, so I contacted GC Electronics, the maker of the copper tape.

P/N 22-507 which is the 1/16 wide copper tape, has been discontinued with NO replacement available or expected.

P/N 22-509 which is the 1/8 wide x 6 feet long, copper tape, has been discontinued. they will have a replacement available for this which will be P/N 22-511 and will be 1/8 wide x 20 feet long. This new P/N is not yet available, they are waiting for all stock of the old P/N to be used up out of the system before bringing out the new.

There are several manufacturers of the 1/8 wide or wider tape, but GC was the only brand of 1/16 wide cooper tape that I was ever able to find.

So, if you like the 1/16 wide copper tape and spot some in stock, snag it quick cuz when it is gone it is gone forever. If you want to use 1/16 wide you will have to get out the straight edge and exacto knife and slice it down yourself.

That looks awesome. I like the bottom pic with the red and green.

However, it appears it only lights up the bottom side of the blade. Flip it over and you're going to get blasted with those 1.4amp LEDs poking you in the eye.

That was cool. I'd like to see that light setup in person.. It looks like there is a light mounted on top too. I wonder how (or if) the timing signal is transmitted to the light on top.

I can't really tell from the video, but it kinda looks like you do get an eyeful of the lights. And the flashing, if not just an artifact of the video, would drive me nuts.

Still, it's all cool.

Angry Good tail blades are hard to find.

Have my first night bird about ready to go.
Have loved the headaces of trying to find the 97mm MS tail blades. have seen some of the others made and really wanted the MS. I know they are no longer distributing to the US. some say they are out of business completely, I assume the first.

Heard rumor Curtis might be comming out with some night blades......Hope that becomes a realtity soon....C'mon Curtis, the need is there!!!

Really wanted carbon fiber and very bright like the MS.

ANY recomendations on good tail blades?

Really tried to get this up by this weekend, ARG! we have our first heli fun fly at our field and promoting the nightfly as well. have only flown my buddies night bird and LOVE IT!

he had the common glow blades with IR mounted on boom to luminate. Tail felt soft....

and not very bright.....

might be stuck trying to get those for the weekend though....

any thoughts.....

Any one have a set of 97's they want to part with and can ship IMMEDIATELY???? HAHA!!

preferably new.......or at least still working with no prob's......haha.....

had a great time with the SWARM guys at IRCHA this year, was AWESOME!!!! reccomend anyone to make it there if they can!!!!

Thanks!!

The pipeline is pretty well ou of MS blades.
Gohbee does have one set of the 102mm tail blades left in stock.
Some 50 size helies can still use the 102mm's..
The Gohbee website is down at the moment so you will have to call to get that one last set.

Here is a bit of something from Amozon, you can get 40 for 10 bucks then shipping or 4.for 4 bucks then shipping. They would be great on landing gear, and tail booms. On and Off switch and you can just take them off by using a bit of velcro strap

Or you could go with these ribbons
