When you say it like that, well, I'm a big fan, too! Or, is that a fan of big ones?

Either my neighbors think I'm unstable, or they are afraid I have dirt on them after flying this thing around the neighborhood for close to a year now.

As none of them talk to me I guess I'll never really know for sure.
Oh well, once I start these 12 hour nites it's not like anybody will ever see me anymore anyway.

Well I was practicing a few minutes ago and this happened.

Was my last pack for the 450, and I had moved on to practicing piros into piro flips, so that the piro flips are not starting from stationary. They look so much better, when you can do them, lol. That together with inverted piro circuits resulted in the above. This is what happened. As it was dropping, I got a bit low too quickly, and over did the collective and cyclic together. This bogged the head, which you will hear, and the tail lost authority. The heli was level at the bottom near the trees, but the tail blew out, making a funny noise, distracted me, and I couldn't regain orientation. I didn't even know it was nose in until the last few seconds, when in theory I should have had time to react but I had brain freeze and did nothing, just watching it go in.

Pretty light damage though. Sadly it includes a set of blades, amongst all the other tiny things.

Have the three packs of practice from before that if anyone wants me to put them up? Bit samey, and no crash, lol, but maybe someone might want to watch, as we haven't had any videos for a while?

Cheers

Sutty

No matter, put up at least one of them (the one where you fly the closest to the camera, please), I use them for visual orientation practice, even if I normally lose the orientation after your first flip and flip the imaginary bailout switch

lol, consider it done. Here is battery number 1 then, it is by far the nearest, as I was just having fun. The others are further away as I was specifically practicing piro manoeuvres, as I explained earlier, and because of that they are pretty boring too, since they are quite repetative.

She's all back together now, and test flown. Looks and sounds as good as ever I think. Of course I could only hover and do some small pitch pumps and on the spot piros as it was dark and I was under the security light.

All that was wrong was that one tooth missing off the main gear, which would probably work but I binned it anyway. One set of karbonite servo gears, replaced with metal ones from an old burnt out one. The boom was bent, but I straightened it with the aid of an 11mm drill bit, battered down from one end to the other, then sent it back so the smooth shank was where the creases where, which I then tapped out with a knocking stick. Torque tube bent straight with the aid of the human hand and eye. And of course, the inevitable set of blades, which I had to steal from the Belt-CP. Shouldn't really steal from her, so I'll have to get her a new set soon as. No idea how the mainshaft survived, but it did. Trusting to luck a little on the feathering shaft to save diassembly, but there were no vibrations on the test flight, so I'm pretty sure it's okay. Will find out for sure after a proper thrashing.

Got away lightly with that one I think.

Cheers

Looking really good Sutty! I've not posted for a while as I haven't flown as much as I should.
Got both the 700's fixed last week so hopefully get a video at the weekend. Love the new 700 DFC

Cheers guys, and nice to hear from you Grant. I hope you can get some flying in, and a video would be great, as we haven't seen one from you in a good while I think.

Speaking of videos, I am tired of my Bloggie 3D being such a piece of junk, and since it is the only way to spur me on to better things by sharing my videos and watching those of you guys, I have decided I need a better one.

What do you guys know about the GoPro Hero 3 Black? Should I get one of these, or am I going to be disappointed with that too after spending the £350 - £400 required to get it and the necessary attachments?

If I'm not going to be able to make good, focused, fish eye less videos, after having spent that amount of money, I am going to be really pissed off. I'm going to be looking at reviews, but I guess I'm not going to find too many who have my requirements. Jerry and Tom, you guys will have looked at it I guess?

And yes Jerry, this does mean if I get one I'm going to have to hold off on that DX8, lol.

Cheers

Sutty

I'm in Santiago airport waiting for a flight home right now. There were some delays with GPH3 a couple of weeks ago and they had just a Silver version in Dallas airport when I was flying down here. Silver is an exact same thing as the old GPH2, so I passed. If they have Black in stock in Dallas airport tomorrow morning, I'll get it and do a quick review for you, Andy. From the specs it really looks promising.

lol, that's service for you! That would be much appreciated Jerry, awesome, but don't just get one on my account. I had concluded that the silver was the GPH2, and also that the black doesn't seem to be in stcok over here either, but they claim they can still be delivered for Christmas if ordered soon. I have to say, I agree, on the face of it it does look good. Having said that I am reading their hype, and if I were to follow the same logic my Sony Bloggie 3D is bloody sensational!

Cheers

I watched both vids again earlier today whilst working on the 450. Liked the continuous piro work too.

The crash reminded me of what Grants sig used to say. From where I'm sat, it's funny Grant should come back and comment on it later in the day. If you don't crash, your not trying hard enough. You are definately trying hard enough doing that stuff

My dad is into his photography in a big way, and his advice to me when buying camera's is always the bigger the lens the better.
