Trex with stretch boom and Align "Carbon" blades.
AON 3500 11 tooth pinion CC 35 esc TP 3s 2100 GY240 Hitec HS56 X 3 Futaba 3108 on tail Prior to this motor I tried the Align 400s, Chili 3200, and Mega 1615-3. The Mega was close but still got too hot. The AON is only warm after a flight. |

Himax 2815-3000 13 tooth pinion
Phoenix 25 Kokam 2000mah 15C I am very happy with this combo, I ran a Himax 2025-4200 from my Shogun before this motor (weak). Now the climb out is comparable to my sceadu/hyper 50. The Kokam 2000s never get over 94 degrees and the motor runs 120's with a heat sink. My head spead with the 13t pinion is 2500 rpm on the ground in idle 1 and it maintains very well during extended climbouts. I would highly recommend this combo. The motor costs $79 and comes with the the male connectors already soldered on and you also get the female connectors for your speed control. This motor has a 3.17 inch shaft so you can use the 13t pinion that comes with the T-rex kit. :glasses2: I run fixed throttle mode, idle 1 throttle curve 90-80-75-80-90. Idle 2 90-90-90-90-90.

mudbogger- No, I set my timer for 6 minutes, when it goes off I usually do one or two more things and land. When I charge the pack with my Triton it takes 1300 to 1370 mah. Considering the temps I'm getting this setup will last a long time. If I'm using 1370mah in 6 minutes wouldn't that be like averaging 13.7 amps? According to himax this motor requires a 25 amp controller.
Before I put on the heat sink I was getting 145 degrees with it on I'm getting 124. The battery has never reached 100. I think a large key to the perforance is the battery pack (Kokam 2000-15C). When I tried my old packs (Kokam 1500-6 or 8C) the performance drops off big time and the pack gets hot. When I first used the 2000-15C pack with the 2025-4200 motor it helped alot but when I install the 2815-3000 I new my search was over.

Tower sells this pack with the deans plug on it for $68.99. It flies great but won't fit in the canopy unless you lose the servo frame by going ccpm.
