Thanks. How did you find the conversion, you think it's easy enough for a 12 year old to do with minimal help from Dad? He's already tore down his Storm 450 and helped me rebuild my 450 3D after a crash, so he has some knowledge of the workings. Also, Ive found this on ebay, what's your take on it? Would it work? Can I trust it?

Ill have to search for the original thread that i got the info from to build it. As far as its difficulty, setting all the settings correctly is the tuff part and make sure you replace all of the servos, and balancing everything correctly. Would not recommend for a 12 year old lol!!

Don't look like the swash and shaft will fit your 400. Looks like it's for a Trex or Tarot 450

Don't underestimate your kid - when I was 12 I was an amateur watch technician, able to take apart watches, find the bad part, and put them back together from memory. These helicopters are a lot less complicated than that. It's a good way to get your kid into understanding basic mechanical principles, which is a skill severely lacking in the latest generation. Nothing in our world is repairable, and it's eliminated a vital experience, and this hobby can re-introduce that.

They all use the same diameter main shaft. You can use the Tarot fbl head (non dfc) and stock swash. Just change out the swash balls to the bigger Align size balls (Wow hobbies has them). That was how I converted mine some time ago.

Default Thanks guys

[QUOTE=Jasmine2501;5003860]Don't underestimate your kid.

Very true. When I was his age I was pretty good at taking apart and fixing truck and farm tractor motors. From a young age my son has always been good at fixing electronics like video games n radios. The only difference I see between me at that age and my boy is, if the job/fix could possibly result in sweating n sore tired muscles.....it aint get'n done, lol.

Thanks, I think that's the rout I'll go then. Being that he got the helis for free and they seem to be sound, I don't mind putting a little money into it. This package deal looks just about the money I'd be willing to put into it.
Thanks for your help guys,
Cory

The Blade shaft and Align shaft are the same diameter, but the Align shaft is shorter on the bottom end. The Align 450 doesn't have a bearing below the main gear like the Blade does. If you look at the picture of the shaft in the listing, there's a hole at the very bottom, right where your bottom bearing sets.

Correct, you have to stay with the Blade main shaft. You can only use the head assembly ( but not the Align swash). You can however use an Align style belt tail box and get away from the crappy tail bearings and soft tail shafts. Just buy one of the many Align SE or Pro belt tail assem's (that come with the belt) and your good. It is a different tooth pitch belt, but I and many others ran the stock front pulley with no problems.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have a few align 450 sport tail gear boxes that I got as spares for my sons 450 clone.

Is like to publicly thank Harbormaster now that hes back.
He was the one who helped me get my first ever FBL build sorted out. I had no clue what I was doing, but his info and posts help me convert my old B400.
It's been a little over a year since, and now I'm a seasoned fbl guy (lol!). I no longer have the 400, moved on to the bigger birds now..but all are fbl.
So thank you Harbormaster!

P.S. If you ever want to try a different fbl unit, give the Robird G31 a go..you'll love it.

Thanks LDH. Yeah, I was out of the game for year--bad weather in fall and winter and work work work in the spring and summer. It was great to get the B400 out for a late summer flight yesterday! I'm glad you're still flying and have moved on to bigger birds!
